Is there a link - baby movements?

Just curious on peoples thoughts/experiences... Am 39 weeks and the baby has always been much more active in evening and at night, I have an office job so when I was still at work I was sat all day (usually got a burst of movement around midday) but other than that had always been after dinner and then through evening and night. Has anyone's experiences been that there is a link between when baby was most active in womb and then being active/awake along same pattern when it's out in the world? Just wondering if I've got myself a little night owl here lol!

Not in my experience. I think babies are more active when we relax, hence the evening activity Smile

I'm currently 37 weeks with my first so no prior experience sorry. I've also noticed my baby starts a womb party anytime from 7.30/8pm and is very active for a few hours. This time also coincides with DP getting in from work so I do wonder if baby is reacting to that. Either that or its going to be a night owl that never sleeps. Or a vampire Smile

My baby reacts to anything with an engine :) recently been on holiday and he was active constantly on the flight, in the car and he apparently loved the little train that took us around the resort. I bet i have to put him in the car at stupid o clock in the morning to settle him :\ .Also he loves my nightly glass of chocolate milk to get rid of my heartburn so expecting a milk monster haha :)

I think they get rocked to sleep when you're moving around, then wake up when you're resting. Would make sense.

My ds would get extra active at 11pm every night as I was settling to sleep. He woke up at 11pm every night for a night feed on the outside. Took till 2 years to break the habit. You could set your watch by him!

All of mine were similar activity-wise after they were born.
Ds2 was constantly on the go, once born he was a screamer and always wriggling.
Ds3 was very quiet, had three regular sets of movements every day. Once born he was very quiet and slept up to 23 hours a day until he was 3 months old.

DS1- at night he was so active I couldn't sleep. No one understood me, MIL said if he is active then you should feel relaxed knowing he is doing great! But I couldn't relax.
Well he is now 11 month old and goes to bed at 8:30/9:00 pm and wakes up at 7/8 am for bottle and goes back to sleep till 9:30/10:00am.. And he is doing that now since he is 4 month old

Oh and I should add that I'm pregnant with second baby and she usually is active during the day. Even when I'm active but calms down for the night. So will see if she will be bad sleeper at night once born or be like my son.. Smile

Currently pg with dc2 and she's moved v similar to dc1, exactly as you describe. I think I'm too busy to notice in the day much and she's often fast asleep at mw appts. Dc1 did follow similar activity patterns post partum, but hard to say how much of that was the cluster feeding she did in the evenings to midnight/1am stretch. Otoh, you notice the nighttime/evening activity more pp as it's when you want to relax/sleep! I wouldn't worry, their schedules do adjust even if they don't sleep well at the start.

cupofteaplease · 27/08/2014 04:24

Yes, my ds is awake in the evenings but sleeps a lot in the day- just as he did in the womb. My midwife warned me that would be the case!

This is all really interesting! Smile I'm getting really intrigued to know who this little person is now Grin
