Hello. I am just 45, met hubby late in life. Didnt start trying for children when I wanted to due to very difficult circumstances beyond my control. Tried from Jan 2012. Got pregnant summer 2012. Miscarried 2013. All fertility tests show no problems. Obviously I'm getting older. Have FSH of 9.2. Considering IUI due to time not being on our side AND having major surgery - a myomectomy -a few years back and concerned there may be scar tissue getting in way but no proof. However getting very contradictory messages from consultant. Initially I was told if my FSH was

Hi Luisa if you check out the conception board there is a thread called the Elderberries or Berries. It's a play on elderly primigravida or older mum! Lots of 30+ women who are having trouble conceiving on there inc women having IUI and ivf. Check it out! :)

Hi!

That's probably about right. Iui works for some but not others. I am 28 with unexplained fertility, had three attempts, one worked but ended in miscarriage, but the others just didn't stick. I'm now 16 weeks after first ivf! IUI was good preparation for some aspects of ivf (injecting yourself etc) so for that reason it's worth a shot. However if I was your age I would probably not waste my time and would go straight for the ivf. Xx

Ps ivf wasn't actually as bad as I thought it was going to be! X

Hello. I had 2 rounds of IUI and an now pregnant. I'm 36 and my FSH was 4. Where in the country are you? If you're London based I couldn't recommend my fertility doctor more highly... Might be worth a second opinion?

Are all tests on DH good?
Some areas are thinking of stopping funding IUI on NHS and going straight to IVF due to success rates.
