Laptops - OK to use while pregnant?

OK, I know this sounds dim, but is there any research or advice to say that laptops shouldn't be used in pregnancy? I can only find stuff that recommends men not using them as they might affect sperm count! I had a vague feeling that I'd read something but can't remember what or where.

Sorry don't know badhair. I regularly used a laptop(on my lap) when pregnant and didn't have any problems but maybe someone else knows official advice. X

they effect mens sperm count due to the fact that if they are used on the lap, they warm up the willy and that, and that effects sperm count. Like too tight boxer shorts and cycling. Not sure about pregnancy... you using it like a PC on a table?

What? Why? Whats the difference between a laptop and a computer?

This isn't one of those "electricity bad microwave bad 20 centruary bad" type things, is it?

I was told by a friend not to go near electric wiring when pg.

She said it with a straight face too.

I used mine, on my lap, loads and loads and loads whilst pregnant with dd2. No probs with her.

I worried about this for a while, Badhair, as baby definitely started kicking more when I used it on my lap, but dp pointed out that it's probably just the heat. I felt the laptop underneath and it was really hot, presumably that's why it affects sperm count. I still use it but put a book/newspaper under and try not to let it rest on my belly, easier said than done now it's getting bigger (23+4). I'm sure the wireless aspect is just like a radio rather than a microwave. Hope so anyway!
