How long would you "wait and see" before getting this checked?

I'm currently 36+6, so 37 weeks tomorrow. I was in the bath about 2 hours ago, baby wriggling around as usual, when I felt a sort of sharp 'twang'. It felt like when he jabs my pelvic floor but with an added 'twang' sensation, if that makes any sense!

So since getting out of the bath I've been feeling a lot of low-down pressure and like I constantly need to pee (obviously his head, he was 2/5 engaged on Tuesday) but also feel wet and, um, leaky Blush

I've put a pad on and know that amniotic fluid is supposed to smell kinda sweet, and if it does I'll go get it checked of course, but how long would you wait feeling like this before calling a midwife? I'm thinking if I still suspect that I'm leaking tomorrow morning (and of course haven't gone into labour or anything!) then I'll call then as opposed to panicking about it now? That would still give lots of time to get labour started before 24 hours was up if it was actually my waters...

What do you think? Yes, I know I'm overthinking it! Wink

I personally would just give them a quick call now to see what they woukd advise x

Give them a call better to be safe. They don't mind if it puts your mind at rest c

Ring and get it checked. If it is your waters, they need to be made aware due to infection risk if you don't go into labour within 24 hours. This happened to me on Sunday! Good luck.

Ok, will give them a call shortly. It smells almondy to me, either that or I have a very powerful imagination! Eek!

Give them a call. My MW advised for the 'twang' as the sensation felt when they pop your waters, so yours maybe could have gone. They can test easily with a swab.

If so your baby is super punctual: 37 weeks on the dot "right, I'm full term, time to meet y'all". Grin

Good luck OP!

I remember that twang 31 years ago it was my waters going :-)

LittlePeasMummy1 · 21/08/2014 22:14

My friend described her waters going as a 'twang'. Best to phone I reckon.

When my waters went with DS. It also was like a twang.. Good thing I was already in the delivery room as they were getting ready to put me on the drip and pop my water..

Call midwife or maternity ward..
