Hi everyone,

I've got a few concerns and I'm Hoping you can give me some advice/any stories that have happened to you.
Throughout my pregnancy I have really suffered with dizziness/feeling faint when I'm not lying down. I had a really bad episode with it at the end of May and went to see the GP. He found that I have a heart murmur which I never knew about so assumed is pregnancy related. However to be on the safe side he sent me doe an ECG and echo which came back clear.
The midwife then said I would have to go consultant led due to the heart murmur however I still haven't seems consultant and I'm now 36+2 rang the hospital and they said there's no appointments available!
At my 34 week appointment my fundal height was measuring at 32cm so went for a scan on Wednesday at 35+6 and was told that I have a low amount of amniotic fluid so was sent to the day unit for monitoring. While I was there (sat on the bed attached to monitor) I almost fainted and all the midwife had to say was do you want some water? I felt so dismissed by her! Anyway they said that baby is growing fine and his heart trace was good. They went on to say I could have low fluid levels due to waters breaking and leaking slowly or impaired placenta function (which I knew anyway).
A junior doctor came to see me asked the same as the midwife and then said she needed to speak to her registrar who was caught up in theatre. The registrar came in gave me an internal said my waters hasn't broken took a swap and left. She was literally there all of 4 minutes and I didn't get to ask her any questions /express my concerns.
A HCA then brought my notes back in and told me they'd see me next week after my follow up scan.
My issue here was they mentioned about a possible problem with my placenta but didn't follow it up at all!
Anyway I had a midwife appointment the next day so thought I would just mention it then. But it wasn't my usual midwife. She was really nice (nicer than mine anyway) but she didn't really listen to my concerns when I was talking to her about what had happened the day before and I still didn't get any answers!!
I've had really bad lower abdomen/back ache for the last few weeks and a few cramps over night also not sure I've felt baby move since yesterday lunchtime put that could be complete paranoia!!

Sorry for the long post but was just hoping for some ideas about the best thing to do next!
Thanks in advance!

Didn't want to read and run, but this doesn't sound right at all! Do you know the name of your consultant? If so I would ring them up and arrange an appt with them directly and don't take no for an answer!!

Id also look at switching midwifes, they should be listening to you and discussing your fears with you not dismissing them.

In your case I would ring the consultant up ASAP and also maybe speak to another midwife/supervisor.

Good luck!

No not even got a name of a consultant! Midwife didn't know either when I asked her!
Any idea how I go about changing midwives they only come to my GP once a week so I thought I had to just have the one that's there!
I'll ring the hospital on Monday though thank you! X

I would ask at the gp, they should have a list of them in your area. I changed mine to one I met who was covering for mine once and instead of seeing her at the surgery she came to my house Smile

With te consultant, their name should be on your notes, if not the hospital should tell you the name. If you manage to speak to a supportive midwife before then they should be able to help arrange an appt too.

You shouldn't be left feeling like that x

Thank you for your help I'll ring on Monday morning and see what they say! It's more annoying because I have ideas about what I want and I know how dangerous a problem with your placenta can be but they don't seem to care! X

I would be ringing triage now re the movement, they need to check all is ok if you notice its different to normal. Dont mean to scare you but its best to be on the safe side Smile

While you are there, ask to spk to a senior member of staff re the consultant care, you should be monitored in labour if they are concerned.

I had an svt episode and checked fine with echo/ecg but still saw the consultant cardiologist and obs lady within a week to check me and baby at 36 weeks...im now 39.

Good luck xx

also not sure I've felt baby move since yesterday lunchtime put that could be complete paranoia!!

If you think you havent felt baby move call back up and have another check up. There will probably be a different consultant working the weekend too, so you may get other answers you need.
