Are all midwives this vague?

I had my 28 week appointment with the midwife today, and - while she was prefectly pleasant and professional - I thought she was a bit.. vague.

I asked if I coud take co-codamol for back pain, as I'd read conflicting advice about taking it in the 3rd trimester and she said it was "probably fine".

She said the baby was measuring small (26cm rather than the expected 28cm) and I asked if I should be worried or do anything and she said it was "probably fine".

She then commented that the baby was all on one side and I asked if that was likely to be a problem, and she said.. it was "probably fine".

I'm not too worried, but just doesn't feel like the best use of anyones time!

Is this pretty standard?

Substitute probably fine for yes it will be fine, but I can't say that in the very unlikely event I am wrong and you make a complaint .

My babies always sit on one side as my womb is a bit of an odd shape 2cm discrepancy in size compared to dates is usual for a scan, but my mw said its not usually a good way of telling, one midwife measured from a dif place entirely to the next. I have had conflicting advice for co codamol, my consultant told me I can't take it over 34 weeks as I need to weqn baby off it for at least a month before birth and I mw said yes I can take it as regularly as I like

Yeah, it appears there are no certainties in pregnancy! So the 'probably fines' are really yes but in midwife speak. In that 99% of the time measuring 2 weeks small isn't a problem but if you were still small next time maybe theyd look at it? Nearly all my appointments have been a 'hello, you look well, how do you feel? Yeah that's all because you're pregnant. Here's the heartbeat, bump is fine, bye'. Most pregnancys don't require much more, however maddening it can be when you want info! I'm sure she would let you know if there was any issue. Also my baby has been firmly curved round on my left for weeks and he's fine, I have just got a slightly bad back issue with the weight distribution. I can't seem to lie flat in the bath as I think my hip over compensates for the weight in one side. If it make you feel better on Wednesday my midwife said this was fine :) and will correct itself after the birth. Until I get the same from carrying him I suppose!

In relation to medication the best think to do is ring your local hospital, ask for pharmacy, then ask pharmacy for medicines information. Medicines information provides advice not only to patients, but drs and consultants in the hospital. I would then go by what they say in relation to any medication.

cocodamol is often prescribed even in third trimester , don't take it while breast feeding though. And don't take it without the ok from a midwife/ doctor as they know any specific reasons why it might not be ok for you personally.
