DD is 4 and I have to take her with me to my GP appointment next week, it is my first appointment since I found out I am pg and I will be 6 weeks, not ready to tell anyone yet. DD listens to everything and will no doubt ask me what pregnant is etc afterwards if if there isn't enough info given during the appointment to work it out.

From memory this appointment is all about the referral to hospital, and as it is no.3 I don't have a lot of questions. Would it be really odd to slip the GP a note at the start of the appointment saying 'I'm pregnant, not ready to tell DD yet, can we avoid directly saying I am pregnant?' or would that be really weird?Confused

You can self refer to the maternity unit you don't need to go thru gp anymore. If you ring your gp surgery they should give you a number for the maternity unit to arrange booking appt with the midwife x

Not here I'm afraid - I'm in NI and it doesn't appear to have changed here yet, as I asked about that when I made the appointment.

You can't self refer either here. I don't see why you can't say that you have written down your needs to avoid little ears overhearing. Especially as it's dc3 and you know all the dos and donts.

DS/ipad with headphones and an addictive/noisy game so they can be busy with it?
Might they be happy to keep an eye on her in reception?

My DD is a little older at almost 6, but whenever I take her to the Drs the women in reception will happily have her during my appointment if I ask.
