No breast pain in first trimester... When does it start?

This is only a minor concern, but apart from very mild tenderness at 4 weeks pregnancy, I've had absolutely no breast or nipple pain and they are no different in size than normal. Every now and then I get intrusive thoughts that I might be one of those women who can't breast feed (I know -rolls eyes -very melodramatic of me!).

I'm just wondering from any women who have already been through it and also didn't experience any breast changes, when did you first notice changes later on down the line.

Haven't time for a long response but just wanted to say I've successfully breastfed two babies and never had much in the way of tenderness or change in size in pregnancy and none of the leaking that people talk about! Sure you'll be fine. It's statistically very rare that a woman finds bf difficult because of actual lack of milk. Though there are, of course, many other factors to consider. Do plenty of research and make sure you surround yourself with sources of support. All the best Smile

Same here - I had no pain/leaking and bf'd for almost 2 years! And as previous poster said it's actually very very uncommon for women not to produce milk / truly be unable to breastfeed. I wouldn't even worry about it if I were you x

I've also had two pregnancies and had absolutely no tenderness or change in size of my boobs. Never leaked milk whilst pregnant either. The only different was that my nipples turned really dark about half way through.

I'm still breastfeeding my youngest :)

Was a bit gutted, was looking forward to having massive boobs whilst pregnant but never happened!

p.s. Your question of when did I notice changes. That would be almost at the point of labour -- boobs then became rock hard melons, leaking everywhere. They settled down after a month or so. Be thankful for no pain now!

I'm meant to have gone out by now Blush but just wanted to say that baby feeding CONSTANTLY for the first few days (or for periods of up to a couple of days at any point thereafter) even if it feels like nothing is coming out is completely normal. It's how they put the order in to your body to make more milk for the next feeds as their needs increase. If you stick it out through these bits it gets quicker and easier and more convenient. Wish someone had told me this! X

Can I also add that it's not the end of the world if you can't or don't want to breast feed. I found it really hard and felt so bad. Formula is fine as long as the bottles etc are all clean.

No change here and fed for 18 months:) . I recommend finding out about a bf support group whilst you're pregnant

Thanks ladies.

pilaumice- absolutely, and I'm very realistic about all aspects of this life change. After 4&1/2 years of IVF Ill just be grateful to end up with a baby, the rest really isn't the end of the world, but I do have hopes that I can at least try to BF.

It's nice to know I'm not on my own. Weirdly, although breast tenderness is not one of my usual PMT problems, there have been months wher I experienced to excruciating beachball effect, so I kind of know how lucky I am to not be experiencing it now! Hopefully I won't need to buy new bras every month at this rate. It is reassuring to know I can just chill and enjoy the fact :)
