Need a ine syllable name as middle name
eg Charlie James
But get a bit stuck beyond that. Don't like John........

My Charlie is Charles Stephen Benjamin I used up all of the rest of the names that I wanted to use as he was the last one!

Now I am pg whoops!

PMSL at ice ice baby and Charlie Ebenezer Gaylord (will save that in case I have another boy ).

I agree with putting full names on birth certificates too. Putting Charlie on a birth cert is like putting Chas on it, IMO. Looks better at the top of a CV too.

Ooh Caz - Charles Benjamin - like that too!
And Hunkermunker - get the CV point....hadn't thought of it in those terms. Yes, I agree, Charlie not so good.
Expect it will be a girl anyway so all this for nothing!

Top name, but why not christen Charles?

CarolinaMoon · 18/09/2006 11:31

why bother with a middle name if you haven't got one you like?

I know it's tradition to have a really loathsome/embarrassing middle name but why go out of your way to find a name no one will ever use?

Unless you think it's character-building to be teased for it at school...

(mine is Rebecca btw, which is pretty hard to object to).

my ds is called charlie george, it was on his birth cert and he was christend that way too, i love it and he has a real cheeky charlie personality to go with it!! charles just never really seemed appropriate for him.

I agree with saving abbreviated names for everyday use but giving the full name as the formal (birth certificate) name. My son's full name is Benjamin John but we have always called him Ben. Funnily enough, the name Charles has been bandied about in my house too but with the caveat that Charlie is used on an everyday basis. I'm thinking of Francis as a middle name (it's a family name and also a Saint's name, as is traditional in my family). Mind you, we've got another 36 weeks to go, so we might well change our minds!
