A week ago I went into hospital to check baby's movements, they turned out to be fine, but after a scan I was told the level of fluid was a little low around her & they plotted her growth quite high on the chart thingy. They told me to go back in a week for another scan.
I went yesterday & was told fluid was fine, growth was fine but she was still extended breech.
I'm 35 + 3. Now I know she's time to turn, but being pregnant & paranoid, she's been in this position since my 20 week scan, I rarely feel movements and am now thinking about options.
They said to come back after two weeks for another scan and if she still hasn't moved would discuss ECV or c section.
Having read about ECV, I'm not sure I'm confident it will be safe for my daughter, three midwives have told me my stomach muscles are very strong which makes it hard for them to tell the position of my baby & I'm not confident about level of fluid if one scan shows not enough but another says it's fine, both of these things I think could impede the procedure, not to mention the pain :-/
If my daughter is already quiet on the movement front, it makes me think she's short of space anyway! Would you choose a section over an ECV?
Sorry I've babbled!

By extended breach do you mean feet first?

DS2 was frank breach - bottom first, feet behind ears. I was going to reject a ECV, and go for attempted vaginal birth. Midwife was supportive - but he was my second.

For feet first, much as I hated the idea of a c-section (previous abdominal surgery left me curled on the sofa for 3 weeks), I'd have gone straight to that.

Have you seen the spinning babies website?

I'd try this first. I might consider ECV with a very experienced surgeon but only once I knew how many ECVs they'd done successfully. And it would depend on the position of my placenta as I believe that affects abruption risk from ECV.

Thank you, yes I've been doing the inversion from spinning babies every night, I'm doing lazy daisy techniques & sit on ball, lean over beanbag, sit backwards on hard backed chair, I'd hang myself upside down if I could! Lol
I think extended breech is frank breech, it's like she's sitting across cervix, legs near head. I can't help but think she's a stubborn one, she's never moved much the whole way through pregnancy, probably thinks why start now!
Are there fewer risks attempting vaginal birth of breech, over section?

This is my first & I'm very frightened of something going wrong

Dd was bum first and very little fluid, I was in hospital on bed rest from 32 weeks. Hospital didn't even consider anything other than c section. I was just glad she arrived safe and sound.

Try not to be frightened. Your midwife/doctor will guide you

Vaginal breech birth depend a lot on the skill and experience of the midwife. Most hospitals won't even consider it these days as midwives don't see breech births any more, unless by accident (ie no one knew baby wasn't head down). One of the risks is that the baby slips into the birth canal before the cervix is fully dilated and then gets stuck when it gets to the head.
