out of control boobs

Hi I'm only 7 weeks into my first pregnancy and I'm having big problems with my boobs. I'm naturally big chested anyway (34F) but they've grown so much fuller and are uncomfortable and a little painful (which I've been told is pretty normal) and trying to get through a day at work sitting at my desk without day dreaming about getting home and setting them free has been a bit of a challenge. So I obvously need something more comfortable to wear, but what? Thought I'd take the plung and went to marks today to try on some maternity bras and it made me cry with frustration (bearing in mind I'm hot, bothered, tired, uncomfortable and obviously emotional), not only were there not many in my size, im pretty used to this being the size i am, i only managed to find three but when I tried them on they made my boobs point out to the sides, I couldn't believe it and why oh why would anyone make bars that point that way in the first place.

I'd really appreciate any advice on where I could go to get a descent compoftable bar I can't bear another week at work like this as am almost tempted to go commando although I'd have them pointing south but think that might be preferable to left and right

Try non wired but not maternity ones? Don't spend much as they will only get bigger! I am bf and have uncomfortable massive boobs - the comfiest thing is my bravado nursing vest (nct shop has them). I have bras from bravissimo but they are not great shape wise. Can't wait to get back to normal!

I found my boobs were really sore at the start of my pregnancy and took to wearing a sports type vest top to bed (elasticated and snug fitting) as I would end up in agony the next day after they had been on the loose all night.

I also went and bought myself some sports bra type bras from Asda - they were £6 each and very much a welcome relief. A few weeks later, I found pretty much the same bras (without a padded bit in) in the poundshop and snapped up one in each colour. I live in these and my boobs have gone massive now. I also reasoned that they didnt cost a bomb so if they needed upgrading to a better bra/larger size, I wasnt throwing money away and also as they were sports bras, they have grown with me as Im positive my boobs have nearly doubled in size.

HTH x

He bravado crop top nursing bras are great for night time. They just didn't offer me enough support for daytime so I went back to bravissimo to be refitted at 8 weeks, 28weeks, and 38 weeks for nursing bras.

You can wear wires as long as the bra is well fitting and you don't squash any breast tissue.

I had similar issues. And as my bump grew it squashed the underneath of my bra and made every thing unbearable. I ended up wearing some miracle crop top things from boots, about £10 each. They had a removable foam cup/pad in for a little extra support. They don't give the most flattering shape though. For "best" I bought a bigger version of my normal bra from brastop.com.

Thanks all for your help, I def can't do underworked bras for much longer I'm just finding them so uncomfortable, but also don't want to spend a fortune as I'm only 7 weeks in, ill def give the asda ones a go, haven't been to any nct classes yet but ill have a look at what they do wen I go. Think primark might be a good try as well thanks. Def feeling the pain first thing in the morning too. I'm so happy to be pregnant but being so uncomfortable this early on is spoiling it at bit, but on a mission tomorrow to get these boobs under control

Don't touch M&S ones with a bargepole I agree they're awful! I have found though that some of the grannyish non-wired 'normal' bras that come in boxes are pretty comfy.

Debenhams have some lovely comfy ones in their maternity section. Also again some non wired ones in appropriately big sizes!

I also wear (for casual) crop top sports bra type things, no wiring at all as PP have mentioned. Bliss. I once went in Primark, bought one and changed in the shopping centre loos in desperation, oh the pleasure... I now have a random neon pink crop top bra thing oh well

seasavage · 25/07/2014 17:51

I have a Royce bra that is really comfy (H at the moment). I also find the Panache bras fairly comfy.

AnythingNotEverything · 25/07/2014 19:31

Honestly OP, I'd get refitted and see how you go. I was a 32G and am now a 34J (still bf) and I've worn wires throughout except for the first couple of months of bf when I grew and shrunk too much during the day.

I suspect if it's uncomfortable it's just because it's too small. Hay said, if you can get support in asda then go for it, but don't discount the wires as they do offer the best support to larger boobs.

JennyBlueWren · 25/07/2014 20:05

I was 32 K now 34 L at 10 weeks. I wear an underwired during the day and soft bra at night. I get mine from Bravissimo and find Panache the most comfortable but sadly can't get them in L. A bit worried they might grow more as I don't know what I'll do then!

fruitpastille · 25/07/2014 21:00

Nct shop is an online thing btw. My boobs were at their biggest about a week after birth - impossible to predict!

Lozmatoz · 25/07/2014 21:04

Never M&S! They're rubbish and don't actually know how to measure you properly in my experience. Go to a local, independent shop where they'll measure you properly. They may be slightly more expensive but you can then go to discount places (I go to Boundary Mill, if you're near one) and get the same branded ones but much cheaper.
