found out I am about 4 weeks pregnant with dc2 yesterday. With dc1 i found out i was pregnant at about 6 weeks because I felt so sick.

I was then sick everyday until 5 months Sad not fun on a hour commute and working with kids all day!

now I'm so scared of being sick again. I already feel sick and there is nothing I want to eat it is all making me feel sick. I have to fly next week too Sad I can smell everything and its just making me feel so ill.

does anyone have any tips on how to cope? nothing seemed to work last time but I have heard of sea bands now, so was going to give them ago. anyone used them before? thanks

Poor you, its sometimes worse when you think it'll be the same as last time. It might not be as bad this time as each preg is different. Maybe talk to your GP and see what they can suggest. Also, although you don't want to try and eat something really bland little and often as it does help with the feeling of sickness.

Congrats on your pregnancy Thanks

I've been using sea bands since about 7 weeks, now 27w and still wear them most days. They worked for me but it's all about getting the positioning right. They do hurt for for a while too.

I suffer from a phobia of being sick and have tried everything including anti sickness meds from my GP. Another thing I found that worked is sour sweets, I was going through bags of haribo tangfastics on a daily basis. The sugar kept my energy up and helped me through the early weeks.

Sea bands are fab and definitely take the edge off the nausea. I found the key was to put them on the moment I woke up in the morning as if I waited until the sickness was already kicking in, they wouldn't be as effective. Fresh air, weak lemon squash and countless packets of ready salted crisps also helped!

Oh and constantly inhaling the smell of something I could tolerate when travelling also helped - in my case, sniffing a box of mint tic tacs. This attracted some strange looks but whatever works! Smile

thanks so much for the replies, will definitely give the sea bands a go

My gp prescribed me phenergren (sorry I can't spell it) its a travel sickness tiny tablet, I take it twice a day & its really helped. As another poster said, weak orange squash, bland wehite foods & ready salted crisps or hoola hoops have been the only things I lived on x

Lozmatoz · 23/07/2014 22:07

Yes, they helped me. Vitamin B) was a godsend, I don't know why no one told me about it first time round. Also go to your GP, they can prescribe something for you.
