GP FEELING BABY

My GP says she thinks I'm pregnant, have done several pg tests, some pos some neg, I am very worried and have to go back tomorrow. I am desperate for this to happen and this will be baby #2 (already have a DD aged 3.5 years), I suffer from PCOS and Endometriosis, so I do not have normal periods and do not ovulate that often, so there is no need for me to panic, its just the not knowing thing..... If my GP felt my stomach would she be able to tell me from that. If I am pregnant then I am just about 4 weeks.

No I don't think so,if you are pregnant your baby is too small for anyone to feel. She might refer you to an early pregnany clinic and they willl get you to come in for a scan when you are about 6 weeks. Then they should be able to see a little heartbeat in your womb. It will be an internal scan, it doesn't hurt and you don't have to drink lots of fluids beforehand. Good luck!!

Fingers crossed for you Malinki. It is too early to tell by feeling your stomach, but I was pg about 10 years ago and the first thing the doc did was to feel inside me to check. I'm afraid I have no idea what she was checking for, but she seemed pretty convinced after that!!

No, I don't think so. The earliest they can pick up a heartbeat on a scan is 6 weeks I think. But that's very early too. I think positive test results are normally correct though? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx

FairyMum - I think that's right. I had a negative test when I was first pg followed by a couple of positive ones. My GP told me that whilst you might get a false negative one, you almost never get a false positive one. Hope that makes sense...!

A really good scanner can see a pregnancy sack at 5 weeks but as others have said for the sake of a week would advise waiting and then they can often detect a heartbeat. Wish you luck and hope it all goes well!!

If your GP was feeling your stomach it was probably to check that you didn?t have any really tender areas that could indicate problems such as implantation in the fallopian tube. As others have said, it won?t help them tell if you are pregnant or not, sorry. An internal can be a better indicator as the colour and softness of your cervix can indicate presence of pregnancy hormones ( purply colour and softening I believe but no expert )
As others have said - good luck, let us all know how you get on.

Had my results back this morning after seeing GP on Friday, I took my pg tests in with me (again) for her to see and she told me that she thought I was pregnant (again, saw her 2 weeks before). So I handed over my urine sample and she felt my stomach and also looked at my boobs (as they were very sore). My results from the hospital are Negative, they say i'm not pregnant and I have made an appointment to go back to the GP tonight, but don't know why, par of me has just deflated and I feel awful, like I want to run away and hide. Any advice is appreciated, really appreciated.

Malinki, how did you get on at the GP? I'm so sorry that you are feeling so bad,I guess you just need to know one way or the other. BTW in my first preg my home test was positive & my hospital test came back neg but I was in fact preg (confirmed by scan at 6 weeks).
