decibels and little ears

I had to use a noisy machine for two hours today. It was annoying and uncomfortable for me but I had a little worry that the delicate ears inside me might suffer more despite cushioning layers. It really was one of those unavoidable situations but I really wish I hadn't done it. Anyone know the vulnerability of 34 week old foetuses to compressor noise pollution?

I'm not sure about the statistics re the vulnerability of babys hearing at this stage. But, at 39 weeks I went to watch my husbands band playing when pregnant with my DD. (I'm not sure how loud the machine would have been in comparison, but the music there was certainly high in decibels - they're a rock band ) It certainly seems to have done her no harm, though funnily enough, she likes rock above all other music! It was one of two times I saw them play thorughout my pregnancy, and she's honestly fine .

Spots I went to live premiership footie and gigs throughout my pregnancy and dd is fine hearing wise. I don't think you should worry!

Once when I was pregnantfirst or early second trimesterthe fire alarm went off in my apartment building. It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard, so loud I was distressed myself and ran out of the building holding my ears for fear I myself would go deaf. But it took me a good while to run down all the steps and get out of the building, so I wondered about unborn ds's hearing. . .but he just had a hearing test (there was some question about his hearing recently) and aced it. He's now 4 and a half, by the way.

I expect the sound of your heart and blood rushing through veins etc sounds much louder. Don't worry!

I think they are very protected, although I personally wouldn't go to loud concerts when I was pregnant (or not pregnant for that sake...). Try going under water ina swimming-pool and see how much you hear.

How brilliantly reassuring you all are... and the baby has been wriggling around like nobody's business since then so I'm not so worried now. Probably a compressor does compare very well with the noise of a rock band or fire alarm. And if my veins sound like that inside then I am proud! thank you...
