Any advice for going abroad whilst in the first trimester?

Going to Turkey on Tuesday and I will be 5+1 weeks. I am a bit anxious about going abroad whilst in my first trimester and wondering if there is anything I should/shouldn't be doing.

I went abroad whilst 20 weeks pregnant 3 years ago and I was fine but not sure if being in the first trimester makes things a little different.

I will be 7+1 weeks on my return.

You should be fine, just hope you don't get too sick/tired with the first trimester symptoms. Mine didn't start until 6+3 weeks. You may be lucky and not get any. Just be extra careful what you eat abroad - remind yourself on nhs website what you can/can't have.
Avoid ice cubes, as might be made with tap water. Avoid salad as might be washed in tap water. Try to go for things that are safer/hot.

Be honest with your travel insurance provider and make sure that your pregnancy is covered. Hopefully nothing will happen but if it does you want to be looked after properly. Xx

I went abroad at 5 weeks and 11 weeks - 5 weeks was much nicer as I'd not got morning sickness by then. Just be careful of what you eat, steer clear of unbottled water and keep snacks on you in case morning sickness decides to kick in!

Flying was fine, I was advised to wear flight socks and drink plenty of water.

Most of all, enjoy!!

Thanks. Bought the flight socks. Will be informing my travel insurance company Monday. Didn't think about salad which makes it harder as I tend to eat ore salad whilst abroad - too hot for hot food!

I'm just back from holiday and I'm 11 weeks. My advice is just to keep well hydrated and take some sucky sweeties to get rid of the yucky taste. And nap. Nap lots :)

I went to egypt when I was about 8 weeks pregnant. When I flew out I didn't really have any symptoms, but by the end of the holiday everything made me feel queasy! The flight home was the longest flight of my life. Just make sure you eat regularly and drink plenty of water. I bought a nice perfume to wear on holiday, and now I can't wear it because the smell brings back the memories of nausea!
