anyone using/used/planning on using the NCT bednest?

www.bednest.com/

I know there are other threads on this and its pros and cons, and will have a read, but just got a specific question.

I used a moses basket by bed for DS which I brought into living room during the day (we were living in a flat on single floor at the time so this was v easy). DS was in his cot by 3 weeks which we kept in our room until we moved house when he was 7mo and we put him in his own room.

Our current bedroom set up means there isn't room for the cot by our bed (plus, DS is still in it in his room) so looking at getting a second hand moses basket again.

However, am tempted by the bednest and horizontal nighttime bfeeding...

My question is this - how easy is it to bring between rooms? Need somewhere to put DC down during the day, and although I know it can be moved between rooms, how easy is this really, and especially down and up stairs?

Shall I also get a cheap moses basket for downstairs?

Thanks

Equally the Snuzpod people could put together a different list of facts (does it rock?, does it come in different colours? etc) which would give them a line of ticks and the the Bednest a line of crosses.

I love the bed nest, had one last time, but I've for a chicco this time - I like the fabric sides, it seems easier to travel with and it was a heck of a lot cheaper. I never moved mine away from our bed once it was up, naps happened in the bouncy chair, so no skin off my nose if I can't lift te incredibly heavy top part off.

We bought a Bednest from eBay; they hold their value so well we will re-sell, so it will be cheaper than renting it in the long run.
I suffered injuries during the birth tho that meant I couldn't get in & out of bed with the Bednest attached; so it lives at the end of our bed. But as I have to change nappy every time DS gets up anyway, it wouldn't have saved having to get out of bed. I found it quite awkward trying to pick him up & feed him in bed (as did my friend recovering from C-section); I prefer to get up & feed in a chair.
It's would be very cumbersome to transport between rooms daily. By far our best buy was 2nd hand Moses basket & stand; it's been in the garden & on overnight stays, used & moved around far more.
I'm a fan of the Bednest ethos/design/company but with hindsight (and our circumstances) we could've just bought another cheap Moses basket for upstairs! I want to say I couldn't have lived without the Bednest, but unfortunately that's not how it's turned out for us.

I would say it's too heavy and cumbersome to move between rooms especially if you have any issues postnatally.

I put my DS to sleep in his carrycot downstairs.

Just wondering if anyone else has used a waterproof mattress protector for their Bednest? I know it is supposed to have a washable cover already, but it's not clear whether that is waterproof..(haven't received my Bednest yet as am renting it).

I've booked mine to rent from September. The deciding factor was the idea of not having to get out of bed as much (and the bedroom being too small for a "proper" cot). But I am wondering how much of a faff it'll be for me to get out of bed in the middle of the night for a wee - choice of commando rolling over DP or shuffling down past bednest?

Kiterun I used to have to shuffle down to the end of the bed, and it did my head in! Commando roll over DP sounds appealing Grin

Yes Kiterun; I hadn't considered how I'd get in & out of bed either and in the end it proved not just a faff but actually impossible after the birth I'd had
allduffedup I use The Little Green Sheep waterproof mattress protector

I had the SnuzPod and relatively easy to move the top part from room to room. Very sturdy and a really nice design. Easy to use with the mesh wall and zipping it up and down. Did have to shuffle a little bit but I had it quite up near my head (moved my bedside table out the way) so it wasn't that far to move.

Hello! Hope you don't mind me throwing in another question, but just wondered if anyone had any experience with the new natural coconut mattress Bestnest now offers (it's their own version, not the Little Green Sheep version... I guess they brought it out to try to stop everyone buying from LGS!). We got this free with the bednest we bought from JL, but it seems pretty thin. Has anyone used it and if so how did you find it? It seems a lot thinner than the LGS mattress dimensions ...

Mine arrived today, weighs 20kg and there's no way I could routinely move it. It's bigger than I thought, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the mattress that comes with it.
