Hello all.

I am looking for some reassurance really. I am having my 12 week scan on Saturday and am absoloutely worried to death about it - everywhere I look I am reading things about babies not growing past 9 weeks and although I have experienced no bleeding or anything really untoward I am really really worried. Have been all so far with this one for some reason. Can someone please tell me to stop being so daft/reassure me that if anything had of happened I would know?

Sorry!

hi all,

i went to the doctors 2 weeks ago thinking that she would confirm my pregnancy and i was told that they don't bother as a home test is accurate.

I was told i was about 8 weeks and made an appointment with the midwife again i've been to see her hoping my pregnancy will be confirmed and was told the same thing. she booked me in for my 12 week scan, my worry is that when i get there ill be told im not pregnant because apart from the positive test i have't had any other symptoms and i don't feel any different.

should i insist my doctor or midwife confirms the pregnancy?

hi kody i know what you mean about not feeling pregnant because although ive had 2 positive tests this week on different days i dont feel any different at all. Sometimes i think im imagining it and im going to get my period, although technically im about 2 and a half weeks late lol.

I havent been to docs yet as i didnt think they were really interested before 8 weeks and im only about 6 and a half although im going this week as i just want to be reassured.

You can def insist they confirm the pregnancy, they should do everything in their power to reassure you. You dont have to wait til 12 weeks to have a scan, if you feel there is a problem etc they will do a scan you just need to be insistant!

good luck x

Glad i'm not the only one feeling this way! I am now 12 weeks and going for my scan on Friday (3 days time) - i've been having nightmares about loosing the baby or babies! I had IVF to get pregnant and just have to hope for the best as I wouldn't be able to afford to do it again - at my 7 week scan there were 2 little ones in there but the doctor said one was very small and may not be a viable pregnancy so we're keeping our fingers crossed for both number 1 and number 2! good luck!

There was another thread exactly like this last week.

Not sure what my point is in posting that for you apart from, "Its normal to be worried" maybe....?

lazyemma just as reassurance,I was the same as you with DS (now 13months). No symptons at all and kept redoing the pregnancy tests to "check". Odds are everything will be fine. Good luck

Unfortunately there isn't much way of knowing. However, missed miscarriages are quite rare and apparently only happen in one percent of pregnancies. I had one last year and it came as a massive shock. I had had the tiniest bit if spotting, and looking back, I wasn't feeling so tired any more.

Try not to worry! Easier said than done, I am seven weeks now and driving myself crazy about lack of symptoms. But plenty of people are lucky enough to escape sickness and have a healthy baby at the end of it. And most miscarriages happen by themselves very early on. As I said missed ones are rare. Worry is part of being pregnant but try to keep it in perspective and not stress yourself unnecessarily.

I think it's inevitable that you worry before 12 week scan even if there have been no problems in the pregnancy. The midwife and docs are nowadays obliged to give you all the worst case scenarios and place thoughts in your head which don't really need to be there. I know it's for good reasons but it's a shame as I didn't start relaxing until after the scan. Didn't feel like I could tell anyone about being pg much. I'm sure you will have a happy experience and once it's done and you have a picture of baby, you can start relaxing and feeling happy :)

Good luck!

Hi all, I was just looking for some reassurance 😬 I've got my 12 week scan tommorow and I am so nervous!
I had a scan at 9+3 and everything was fine with baby but I am still worrying like crazy!
I know I need to stop reading posts about mmc but I can't!

Hopping on a really old thread probably isn't best way, but it is totally normal to be nervous at every scan.
