Breech at 32 weeks

Basically just that. Midwife last week and a scan today showed my baby is breech at 32 weeks.

All I've been told by the medics is it "might" turn.
And I can't seem to find anything on the net other than most babies still will turn.

Had anyone here got any experience? A rough idea what % of babies that are breech at 32 weeks eventually turn and are cephalic for the big day? Thanks x

No advice but I'm 33 weeks and have got a midwife appt for the same thing tomorrow - I'm assuming they'll scan me if they still think the baby is breach then.

GingerScouse · 14/07/2014 20:53

Think the figure is that 3% remain breech by the time they are born.

My baby was breech from my 20 week scan until 37+5 then he just turnt and stayed down I tryed the ball looked online used the tips on the website spinning baby's but he turnt the day before the hospital wanted to turn him manually of his own accord
so They do turn I no it's hard not to worry but there is still plenty of time for baby to move good luck

Thanks everyone. I'm just worried to be honest, it's been a difficult pregnancy with one thing or another and now adding a breech baby into the mix, well I'm disheartened to say the least.

I think mine is breech. At 28 weeks the midwife didn't know. At my next app (34 weeks) she said she'd check again and they'd scan at 36 weeks if they thought it was.
You're meant to spend time on all fours and we're potty training so lots of floor cleaning which I hope will help! Grin

Have you looked at the spinning babies website?

Em1503 · 15/07/2014 05:05

Mine was breech from 28 weeks onwards. I was convinced she was going to stay that way and was preparing myself mentally for a c-section. Anyway I went for a scan last week (37 weeks) and she had turned! Couldn't quite believe it as you read so many stories about where the baby turns just before scan/ ECV / c-section but I really didn't think it would be the case for me. So remain hopeful, there is definitely still time!

My midwife said they have no interest in the position of the baby until 36 weeks, as baby will move a lot before then. I'm 30 weeks and baby changes position totally in a day. Yesterday he was breech, today is transverse. I saw a really cool tube video where consultant spins baby round at 36 weeks. Looked really easy - though I'm surest takes skill to do it correctly, and I know you should only have this done in a hospital where the team are on standby in case of problems.

Mine was breech until very late. In fact, until just before the appointment I had to discuss it. He decided to turn during the night. I felt him in the bath in the morning and it was cephalic.

If you are worried, make sure to help it along. Bend over a lot, get on your knees with the bum high and head low a lot, and give little pushes sideways.
Sometimes the doctors do try to turn the baby over but it may not work.

Some babies supposedly even turn during labour, so who knows...

Lweji · 15/07/2014 07:06

In any case, it doesn't matter how the baby comes out, just as long as it does. :)
Don't feel disheartened. It's not a competition.

hubbahubster · 15/07/2014 08:09

What Lweji said. Both my babies have been delivered by ELCS, both had low placentas and DC2 was breech to boot, so no point even attempting to turn her! Both were born alive and well, and that's all that mattered to me. Since my CS were planned, I could speak to the midwives involved to arrange skin-to-skin ASAP, I knew exactly what to expect, DH was able to book extra time off because we had a definite date... There are positives if you do end up with a CS, y'know. I'm successfully BF DC2 as I type (and have done from birth) in case that's a concern for you.

My last one was breech till 36 ish weeks. It was at the point where they were discussing scans and turning her. She was head up at 20 week scan and stayed that way till she flipped whilst I was driving home one day. Couldn't mistake it for anything else and I was glad to be sat in traffic!

Plateofcrumbs · 15/07/2014 19:56

I think the stats are about 25% breech at 32 weeks but only about 3% remain breech at due date - so vast majority will turn!
