I'm 33 weeks and have been wearing a normal underwired T-shirt bra... until now! Baby has taken to sitting up underneath my ribs and the wire is making me really uncomfortable! Was thinking of going straight to nursing bra's now that I've only got a couple of months left. Any advice as to which ones to go for? I prefer the moulded cup types - t-shirt bra style so doesn't have to be anything show-stopping - comfort (followed closely by price!) is my main concern! :)

Thanks in advance!

I've been advised not to get measured for a nursing bra until very close to the end - 36/38 weeks - because of late growth close to the birth/soon afterwards. I'm actually still quite small so don't know if this would work for you but I got some very soft and comfy crop top type bras from sainsburys, £5 each, which I promised at the start were just for sleeping in but now I wear them all the time. Could you also look for a cheap but comfy option to get you through the last couple of months?

Sorry! Last few weeks : )

Ditto Ms above. I have just been to Asda and bought THE most comfy bra I have ever had in my life. Its cost me £4 and has no wires (this one is strapless and like a bandeau but they have sports bra style ones too). I personally would go for cheap and comfy for now and get a nursing bra closer to EDD. With DC1 I went up from an E to a G cup when she was born and I was feeding Shock.

Wow... Didn't realise they'd change that much! Thought they'd already got huge! Normal non-wired it is then! Smile

I've got two nursing non underwired bras from mothercare - think they were about £14 each but I LOVE them - massively comfortable and still supportive (I've gone from a 34c to a 38d), only 28wks but hoping they'll last the duration and during breast feeding.

Misscocopops · 13/07/2014 21:21

I've given up at the moment with bras. Was a 34DD before but little miss is so high I have a massive 42inch bust!
If I need the boobs to look good I've been issuing my usual bras with those weird strap extenders, if not I live in sports bras from asda, so comfy, and I recon they will be easy enough to feed with for those first few weeks. I'm hoping my ribs will eventually go back after she's here so I'm going to put it off for as long as I can, so my boobs and milk supply settle, then go out and try a few shops and sizes and see what works for me then :)
I find if I try like a 38 on it's too large under my armpit no matter what cup size I go.
I've just found throughout my pregnancy there is no point in stocking up, what fits and suits perfectly will lat precisely 2 weeks before it all goes Pete tong lol x

I hung on to my wired bras until a few weeks ago but now, like you, they dig in. I'm 35 wks and 34F at the mo (they grew 2 sizes by 8 wks and no more since). I haven't managed to find any moulded cups so kind of gave up on that. I have those same Sainsburys crop tops for sleeping and slobbing around the house (so comfy!) but am wearing M&S nursing bras (simple ones in a 2 pk) now but waiting to see if I grow any more before committing to buying more. As such, I'm kind of living in the same few bras at the mo.

I also have the asda one, which I'd recommend getting to see you through until you get a nursing bra. I'm 30 weeks, was a 30F pre-pregnancy, now 34G, but still in underwired apart from the odd day when I'm not comfortable when I'll wear the £4 asda one.

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 13/07/2014 21:49

I agree, they can change quite a lot between pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Also, your rib cage can change. Mine was a 32 pre-pregnancy, 36 by the end and back down to 34 almost immediately after birth.

JFlo · 13/07/2014 21:54

Yeah I haven't noticed putting on much weight anywhere other than my belly (and a bit on my lower back) but I've gone from a 36 C to a 38 C and the last time I measured I was up to 40!

I have no idea how much bigger I am but the bras I bought whilst pregnant are way too small just now.

RebeccaCloud9 · 13/07/2014 22:05

The Asda bras are AMAZING!! I have some of the seamless non wired t shirt bras that have pads (so no embarrassing nipple views!) - they are £6 and soo comfy x

Scoobsmam13 · 13/07/2014 22:05

The Asda one I bought comes in S, M or L. I went for M as am usually a 32 under band and think I am probably up to a 34 now. They have loads of give. Ive been so uncomfortable recently and have sometimes gone without a bra. There is a little padding in them too which give a nice shape. I can't recommend it enough for comfort, going back tomorrow for a couple more.

bumpiesonamission · 13/07/2014 22:52

I got kiddicare basic nursing bras. £12 each, s, m, l and soooooooooooooooooo comfy. Great now for nursing too.

JFlo · 14/07/2014 20:35

OMG... that Asda bra is soooo comfy... think i may never go back to wired again! Thanks for the advice ladies! :)
