To start another baby/birth thread here... Anyone had three born back to back?

There are definitely bigger problems than mine out there on this board so I hope it's ok posting here:

I'd like another baby. Have been very lucky to have 2 already who are wonderful. Both born back to back. First was a long drawn out typical first labour, born back to back in the end by forceps delivery, didn't try to turn first as we didn't know it was back to back.

Second also unexpectedly born back to back (but much quicker this time and no forceps needed). Am told it is unusual for second baby as your uterus is better at turning them. So it may be that I have an unusually shaped pelvis that makes back to back more likely.

So basically I'm scared of a third labour and having this again. Has anyone had 2 back to back then a 'normal' birth?

No just one, my second. It was a homebirth too, though she looked a proper mess. If you know that there is a chance can you do the positions to encourage turning? I did with my third. Good luck and best wishes.

There's Chat, or Pregnancy. Probably a few better boards, tbh. AIBU is more for cunty arguments really.

I had a back to back with my first, normal with my second and back to back again with my third... I really wasn't expecting it to happen the third time. So painful. Not much help, I know.

I thought this was about if you'd had three babies in 18 months.....

WaffleWiffle · 11/07/2014 22:34

Three back to back babies here, of with number 4. Shortest Labour 23 hours. I'm told it is to do with the shape of my pelvis.

gordyslovesheep · 11/07/2014 22:34

AIBU is NOT for 'cunty arguments' I only every post here and yes OP all 3 of mine where B2B

Oh waffle, poor you. Three back to back! I've had two, first was forceps after a 24hr labour; second came out without help, , after a 14hr labour. With both, I managed the contractions without much trouble, but the pushing stage was long and extremely painful (I was denied an epidural both times. Gas and air only). I would like a third baby, but I don't think I can handle another b2b birth. Just out of interest - where were everyone's placentas? I had an anterior placenta both times. Wonder if that's connected?

Christ I thought you meant at once!

I managed to turn DD by being very active and so on. Do you think that could be a factor?

MrsMook · 11/07/2014 22:55

I've had 2 back to backs. First was a long slow labour ending in an emost and both of us in an exhausted sorry state. Second much faster. Sadly not ended on my own terms as problems with monitoring triggered emergency forceps in theatre which was a rather rough ending although correct exit. I feel that I could have got him out myself given the chance... Not got as far as a third yet. I'd love a home water birth to try and keep intervention at bay but it does concern me that my tendency to SPD doesn't help. Second time I got comfy over the ball and kept well away from the bed.

MrsMook · 11/07/2014 22:56

Emcs. Stupid autocorrect

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 11/07/2014 23:06

All three of mine were back-to-back but the only intervention I had was an induction with DS2 due to a failing placenta (they were all ridiculously over due as well)

Silentelf · 12/07/2014 00:03

Thanks all for your replies. They have given me hope that even if it happens again its still do-able... Not brave enough to contemplate a home birth though! Also I didn't know they could turn right at the end so that's good to know too. Placenta high anterior both times, don't think it's related but not certain.

Very active in both pregnancies- worked full-time to 38 weeks in a running around all day job in both and with no 2 also had a 1 year old to run round after at home. But never tried any positioning techniques so will look into that if we do go for no 3.

Hullo Silentelf

We're just going to move this to the Pregnancy topic as it's more appropriate.
