I have made a start on getting all the clothing washed, next will be bedding for pram, Moses basket and the cot bed. I was wondering, if you bothered with the towels, bibs and muslin cloths?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am, just because I want to see them drying on the line :)

stargirl1701 · 09/07/2014 19:24

We will be. They've been in the loft for two years. Must buy a Moses basket mattress!

Lalalax3 · 09/07/2014 19:25

Loosen up the muslins by washing them, they get softer with washing.

Memphisbelly · 09/07/2014 19:26

Yes towels, bibs and muslins won't be as absorbent until you wash the starches out.

TeaRex · 09/07/2014 19:28

Wash everything, lots of retailers put nasty chemicals on cloth items to stop creasing in transit etc so better safe than sorry :) plus all the little baby things smell lovely after a wash :)

hartmel · 09/07/2014 19:41

Muslin cloth, bibs and towels are not so stiff after a wash and will better absorb..
I didn't bother washing the crib bumbers but washed the fitted sheet

I washed everything including towels, muslins etc. it was the cutest thing ever seeing them all hanging up to dry! Grin

Sorry to butt in, but what washing powder is everyone using? I normally use a fairly heavily perfumed brand because DP works at a DIY yard and often his clothes smell pretty strong from chemicals, oil etc. but not sure I want something that potent on baby clothes!

As to the washing, OP, everything here is going to have a run through the machine. I got a lot of second hand stuff and even though it looks clean, I want to be sure. Ditto above too - have dyed and washed some muslins and they feel much, much softer and more absorbent after a good wash.

pommedeterre · 10/07/2014 12:50

I use the fairy stuff until they are a year or so. Then back to normal for everyone!

Lalalax3 · 10/07/2014 13:12

Any non bio. Whatever's on offer!

squizita · 10/07/2014 13:19

Lots of people have recommended Persil non-bio to me - is it really better or just a name I usually buy ASDA own brand or Lidl being a tightwad.

MrsGSR · 10/07/2014 13:29

I use asda sensitive non bio, my 5 month old has never had a rash from it :)

nc060 · 10/07/2014 13:54

I will be using a non-bio for junior and a nice smelly one for me and DP x
