Honda civic type s and baby (or any 2 door car)

Hiya everyone, just looking for some advice really.
The OH drives a nice honda civic type s (2 door no iso fix base).
I have an old golf (4 door with iso fix).

I've got a maxi cosy and have ordered my isofix base for my car months ago.

Our dilemma is that the OH got a new job recently as a bricky. He's not liking all the dust getting in his nice honda, or putting the back seats down to get his tools in. So he came up with the idea of me getting insured on his car also (I'm under 25 so fully comp doesn't cover me to drive any car) then I can drive the nice honda and he can mess up my golf instead.
I don't really mind what I drive, I'm not as much as a car snob as he is haha!
However, my big concern is getting a car seat in and out of a two door, with no iso fix.
Is it as hard as I'm thinking it will be? In terms of usage of the car I will drive everywhere with baby (due 21st sept) driving to the shop, general errands etc. not loads of places but I live a little out the way of everything so not able to walk to places.

Anyone's experiences with a two door and kids and baby will be very much appreciated!!

Thanks in advanced! X

I brought a Saab convertible when we decided to start a family. I found a 2 door car worked for me, and only traded it in when I got to DC3!

I managed 3 months with 3DC n the Saab.

I wouldn't be without my ISO fix. Actually just thought today it's probably our best buy for dd (7mo)

My husband has a Ford mustang (2 door) and I drive a Ford Explorer (SUV) and I find it very hard getting the car seat out of the mustang. And now I'm 25 weeks pregnant with DC2 and DS is 10 month old it very uncomfortable using the mustang. I prefer my explorer.
Maybe I'm spoiled GrinGrinGrin

I have a 2 door with a small boot.

I hate it. Lovely car, total pain in the arse.

We have a honda civic 2 door. No problems at all with getting kids in/ out, but we use car seats that are strapped in permanently and then strapped baby/kids up once we got to the car. It's great for when it's raining or it's a busy road as you can easily fit inside the car facing the child (forward facing) and strap them up with the doors closed. With rear facing you just sit on the seat next to them and strap them up. No plans to change cars- DS is 3.5 now and dd 1.2

I managed with a 2 door for ages and did the same thing as HairyPorter except I had a stage 0 car seat and just kept it permanently in the car, I'd sit next to the car seat and put her in, then just slide the seat into place. After a while I got the hang of belting the seat up and it was ok.

My brother in law managed with a Citroën C2 for 2 years with two young children. I couldn't have done it!

In all honesty I think you would find it a pain. We have a 4 door but didn't buy the IsoFix base straight away and just the having to belt the car seat in everytime we went anywhere really started to annoy me and DH so after about 3 days we bought a base!

When babies are little it's much easier leaving them in the car seat rather than getting them in and out as they are often asleep.

Our Iso Fix base is definitely my couldn't do without purchase, I would recommend sticking with your car and the base.

I had a 2 door civic with no isofix and it was fine unless DD fell asleep in her car seat, I could never get it out without waking her because the car seat got all jostled about. Also I had a key locking door instead of a RF fob which is just one more thing to wrestle with.

We have now swapped out for a four door golf. Much easier!!

I didn't find a 2 door difficult with a baby seat at all. It might depend on your height and the car but I found that with the front seat folded down there was more room to manoeuvre than when we later got a 4 door car.

However, we didn't have iso fix (this was before it was common). Given the choice I would probably go for the safest option whatever that was.
