I presume you mean in the north west of England, not that you want the baby pointing north-west!!!
No suggestions sorry, spinningbabies.com?

Are chiropractors qualified for that? Do you mean manually pushing the baby round? (That's potentially v dangerous and should only be done in hospital with a c-sec team on standby, I believe)

If you think a chiropractor will make the baby turn with some kind of woo, I'm afraid it won't work. Chiropractic was called out as pure bollocks some time ago by Simon Singh.

Better off spending your cash on a curry and some chocolate. Won't make tinge baby turn but you might feel better about it.

FTVsmummy · 07/07/2014 19:46

Simon Singh's report was completely flawed & the scientific proof for chiropractic is overwhelming. I'm not about to embark on a long debate on and pros & cons of chiropractic, but to dismiss an entire profession (which is also available on the NHS in many places) is flippant & irresponsible. I for one was only able to remain walking for the last 2 months of my pregnancy thanks to mine.

I can't help with a specific chiropractor for what you want but you should email or telephone a few in your area & find someone who's been through the additional training required to perform the procedure and who you feel confident in.

Yes I am in the north west ha!

Am doing spinning babies but to no avail, and trying for a vbac so really need baby to turn. 30 weeks so have time.

No. I don't mean an ecv, I mean websters technique performed by a chiropractor which I would rather try along with the other things recommended on spinning babies before turning to medical options.

Yes, I've emailed my local ones to ask but to no avail, unfortunately I can't search by technique on the British chiropractic association website so thought I'd ask here.

No, there's not a lot of proof.

The NHS also do homeopathy in some places. There's zero evidence for that.

Take care OP (glad you're not having a high street ECV!)

It was a chiropractor who diagnosed my child with rheumatoid arthritis. When countless docs told me she was attention seeking.

Docs were giving her 1000mg of anti inflammatories per day when they diagnosed her finally thanks to a chiropractors report which detailed exactly which joints her arthritis was in.

And it was the chiropractor who helped her become pain free and medication free for a time until her arthritis went into full flare. After the major flare he said it wasn't an idea for him to treat her and she should go onto medications prescribed by the hospitals rheumy team.

Give chiropractors credit. I owe one a lot. A good chiropractor is hard to find but it's not frou frou.

Good luck op on finding one to help.

What about acupuncture, have you looked/researched into that?
I can recommend a couple who are NW?

slithytove · 07/07/2014 22:37

We will be doing moxibustion from 34 weeks - but is there another type of acupuncture I could try? Any advice and recommendations are welcome.

Thanks for all responss so far

WowserBowser · 07/07/2014 22:40

I know an acupuncturaist in the NW who does this.

Whereabouts are you?

sashh · 07/07/2014 22:43

I think you should go to someone medically qualified.

WowserBowser · 07/07/2014 22:46

Just to make it clear - he uses needles in the ankle or somewhere - during a specific time frame and the babies apparently move.

I am not advocating someone manually turning the baby or that it actually works! He believes it does.

LJBanana · 07/07/2014 22:48

They put the needles into your feet and hands, if I recall correctly- no where near bump. They can only do it after a certain week in pregnancy, incase it induces labour.
My 3rd was breech,I tried acupuncture. I'm not sure if it was this that turned him, but he turned. I did also live on a ball from the second I found out he was breech.

happyyonisleepyyoni · 07/07/2014 22:55

At 30 weeks it's normal to still be head up. Chances are baby will turn on its own before you are term.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 07/07/2014 22:58

Chiropractic was called out as pure bollocks some time ago by Simon Singh.

Well whatever my chiropractor did it bloody worked. I couldn't walk a couple of months ago due to crippling sciatica in my back and ankle and now I can.

I'd still be waiting for the nhs physio team to see me. The nhs isn't all it's cracked up to be so I think I'll stick to what actually works thanks.

slithytove · 07/07/2014 23:12

Yes wowser please recommend.

sashh for any medical procedures I have such as an ecv, I will be going to someone medically qualified. Otherwise, I will go to someone qualified in their field (chiropractic, acupuncture).

My previous 2 children were breech, one breech delivery and one section, hence why I'm starting early this time happy, plus I have a bicornuate uterus. But I hope you are right!

slithytove · 07/07/2014 23:13

As I understand it, all of the alternative methods mentioned and that I wish to try, are a hands off approach encouraging the relaxation of the uterus and pelvis, in turn encouraging baby to get into the desired cephalic position.

None of these methods involve actually making contact with baby, the only one that would is a medical ecv which I am keen to avoid and I'm not sure I would be offered one anyway.

LJBanana · 08/07/2014 07:11

I agree with you. It can be stressful the thought of not knowing if the baby has turned, and as the weeks go by and you get closer too d day it can become an anxious time. As you've had experience of 2 breech babies already this could be even more so.

The alternative methods are relaxing, and can give you chance to have some time out, which is all good.
I had acupuncture in 2/3 pregnancy's. One for overdue, one for breech.
I can't say what made them turn or arrive as with anything it could just be nature. But time out from stressing about it,surely is a positive IMO.

Marnierose · 08/07/2014 08:48

It's probably your uterus that is causing your babies. Sometimes they are just breech for a reason.

However, my friend had good success with reflexology. Her uterus was a normal shape though.

slithytove · 08/07/2014 08:52

Probably Marnie. However I live in hope, this baby is spinning daily, and DS1 (DC2) was spinning right up until delivery at 36+4. He was actually cephalic for the section.

DD1 is the only one who didn't turn, and once she was born it was clear she would not have been able to. (4 nuchal loops round neck, nuchal arm).

I just don't want the fight for a breech vbac on my hands if I can avoid it.
