26+4 and very uncomfortable bump last 2 days after feeling kicks at top of bump for first time so be interested to hear others' experience, thanks op.

I found out when my midwife told me. I was convinced I could feel his bum in my ribs at about 27 weeks..turns out I was right. Have a feel :-)

VenusDeWillendorf · 06/07/2014 14:49

I was having a swim, and suddenly the baby turned. I looked like alien as my bump completely changed shape and poked out and then flattened. I had to hold on to the edge for about five minutes, as it happened in the deep end....
I was 36 weeks.

Afterwards my bladder capacity was that of a small thimble.

Babies turn and turn again, so it's the last turn you need to worry about.
Sometimes the last turn happens when you're in labour.

I'm 34 wks and at my mw appt a couple of weeks ago she said babys head was down. I had no idea.....I feel the odd bit of pressure on my pelvis but generally feel the same and not waddling. Baby still very active and I swear he's still turning. I've never had to pee any more than usual in my pregnancy and still don't now.

VJONES1985 · 06/07/2014 16:52

My baby turned head down at around 26 weeks - I could see and feel it. Since then at every scan or midwife check, he's still been head down. As for actually dropping, my baby became 1/5 engaged last week (33 weeks), as confirmed by the midwife. I got very bad lower back ache a few days before so perhaps that was a sign of him moving into my pelvis.

FoodieMum3 · 06/07/2014 17:43

I had a scan a few days ago at almost 30 weeks and baby was head down, I had no idea. I was sure he/she was breech because I feel very hard up high and get kicks down low but no - defi Italy head down.

Must be hands moving down low!

Hope baby stays in this position now Smile

squizita · 06/07/2014 17:48

I'm 30 weeks, can't tell just by feeling at all. Big baby, normal carry ... mystified how some babies seem to be so close to the surface!
I know she's head down thanks to a scan - but she punches and kicks diagonally - top right, bottom left, so I think she's at a bit of an angle.

Iswallowedawatermelon · 06/07/2014 19:55

My baby is nearly engaged (1/5 of the head is still palpable, so 4/5s is engaged) and tbh the only difference I have had is that I need to wee slightly more often. No other difference tbh.

mssleepyhead · 06/07/2014 20:27

I can feel him sticking his bum and legs out at the top - he's very wide up there, much wider than just a head - and recently he's taken to sticking a very obvious foot out just below my ribs at night for a bit of a stroke! Can totally feel it's a foot; it's amazing : )

mssleepyhead · 06/07/2014 20:28

(That's at 33 weeks)

VJONES1985 · 06/07/2014 20:32

I'm 33 weeks too and wish I could see and feel body parts. My midwife said I have very good stomach muscles, which may explain why I can't tell much, but I wish I could :-(

HungryHorace · 06/07/2014 20:57

Hiccups in my fanjo is how I tell whether baby's head down! :-)

VJONES1985 · 06/07/2014 21:03

Ah! Hiccups! Every so often I get this weird feeling in my fanjo, like a thud or thump repeatedly, and that must be what it is!

CrazySexyCool123 · 06/07/2014 21:05

I was told many times that he was head down, and also told how engaged he was. Turns out it was his bum.............

mssleepyhead · 06/07/2014 22:17

Just been getting DH to feel little one's hiccups - I find them so funny as they're one of the few movements I can really imagine going on in there. Such an odd feeling to have down there though!

AbsoluteCarine · 06/07/2014 23:48

I'm now one week overdue and baby's been engaged for weeks.
I do feel like I have a baby's head between my legs and am waddling like a duck. It's hard to walk normally :-)

Barbsta · 07/07/2014 03:33

My main sign was my back pain completely going and the pressure low down

icklekid · 07/07/2014 04:32

Before baby started engaging I didn't have a clue jyst went by what midwife said. Never felt them turn as others have posted. I did feel big lump in ribs often which I would have presumed head but told bum!

Iwillorderthefood · 07/07/2014 10:11

I did not feel so much sitting down, it was just if I stood up, and she seemed to suddenly really press on my bladder, making have to hurry to the bathroom. Terrible pelvic floor though (this was third baby), am doing the exercises now though!!!
