Is it normal to feel like throwing up all of a sudden?

Hi everyone,

I'm nearly 8 weeks and apart from feeling exhausted and sore boobs I've been fine up until today. I woke up with a bad headache nothing too bad, but was making dinner and in the space of 0-60 seconds felt like I was about to throw up in the kitchen. Managed to make it to my bedroom and lay down to wait for the feeling to subside. I have to admit it kind if scared me a bit! I had little or no warning. Felt fine one minute and the next was about to be sick. I hope this isn't the start of things to come :( x

Yes sorry this is normal. I made curry shortly before I knew I was pregnant. I could still smell it in our kitchen 6 months later and it made me vomit. Dh assured me it was ll in my head.
congratulations :o

Omg I'm worried I will get caught out one day. I'm fine if I can lay down but I can't exactly do that at work or in my car or tube. I thought it would be more gradual so at least I could prepare myself for it! I have visions of being totally embarrassed when I'm out in public!

Sorry normal...if you can work out what makes you heave it does help. For me it was gas, petrol and cleaning alcohol. I still hate filling the car up .

I think it was the smell of cooking. But I had been fine up until today, I've been eating for England but I think that may change at this rate. I couldn't believe how quickly it got me. What if I'm out and don't manage to find a toilet in time!!

I get travel sick on long journeys anyway but now I'm getting sick on the bus to work! I also go from hungry to no appetite really suddenly!

Sounds very normal to me! You'll soon learn your triggers and what to avoid. Hope you feel better!

Oh god yes! It always happened to me in the shower! Would suddenly get the watery mouth and then be sick all over the shower Confused

Cherryblossom200 · 06/07/2014 11:04

The showers probably the best place to be sick! I'm just worried I'll get sick on front of work colleagues, I would be so embarrassed. I think people who haven't experienced pregnancy don't really get how quickly it creeps up on you so no chance to get to the toilet sometimes. I certainly wouldn't of understood it before I was pregnant.

I suffer with emtophoboa, which is a fear of sickness. I have the worry of being sick in public too, I carry a carrier bag in my handbag just in case, easier to be sick in there than all over the floor. And a bottle of water just incase too.

Hope that helps :) x

You'll get used to being sick in public places. No dignity when pregnant! My 'favourite' moment was getting off the Gatwick - Heathrow bus outside terminal 5 and being very sick in front of everyone while my husband just stood and watched!

One thing I will say is you will know it's coining and often you will have enough time to react/prepare.

Yep! Grin

6+6 went swimming, healthy brekkie, all the right stuff....

Two hours later, said hello to breakfast again and it's been all fun and games since.

Yes this is completely normal. I've almost thrown up in my classroom bin at work more times than I'd like from 5 weeks+. Driving is a nightmare and last night I got off the tube just in time to throw my guts up all over the side of the platform. And then twice in the street.
Am only 7 and a bit weeks. But I'd like my appetite back and the sickness to go already! haha.

(At least I'm slimmer than before!)

Chattycat78 · 07/07/2014 20:28

I get this too. I'm 12 and 3 days and I've had it since 7 weeks. Some days I've had to run to the disabled toilet at work! Afterwards I feel fine again and I get it not every day but every few days.
