Clothes for when you first pop?

I'll be traveling for 2 weeks for weeks 12-14 so I'll likely start to show on the trip. Seems really difficult to back for! Did you find you needed or wanted to wear different clothes for when you first "popped" or were your normal ones fine? I'm 10 weeks now and in my normal clothes.

I started wearing larger/maternity clothes at about 17w with dc1.

With dc2 it was about 10w cos I was fatter to start with and craving baggy joggers

I am like an evangelist for this brand: www.purpless.co.uk/ sooo good for basics which don't swamp too much at the start and stretch to full 3rd trimester size - and cheap/wash well.

Er, pyjamas! There was no getting dressed for days for me!

Oh! Popped as in showing! I thought you meant popped as in gave birth!

I went travelling in Thailand when I was 15 - 17 weeks, and didn't need to take any clothes other than jersey things. I had a couple of pairs of short harem pants/shorts that I bought in Bangkok for £3 each (but also had a pair from Next), and a tunic top or two. I could wear all my normal vests and things.

At that point I really wanted to show, as was just looking fat, but didn't need any real maternity clothes. At 28 weeks now I'm still wearing only about 50/50 maternity/normal clothes. Jersey and empire line is your friend.

Interesting how much it varies! I think I have pretty strong stomach muscles so it might be later for me, but I guess you never know! Focusing on dresses is a good idea.

I traveled at 13 weeks and 18 weeks and wore mostly dresses because anything on my belly made me feel sick. I didn't really pop until 20 weeks but couldn't wear my normal clothes from about 10 weeks. Flying made me more bloated though and I also got travel sick on the plane/in the car which I've never suffered with befor so might be an idea to get some travel bands just in case.

As for jeans, next all the way, the ones with the adjustable elastic inside, perfect and don't look like maternity for when you're not public yet!
