Ok, I'm 38 weeks and shouldn't be thinking about this now, do shoot me down in flames, ladies, but I'm worried about the mould in my living room. We only discovered it recently while cleaning out/ getting new sofa etc. Which means i have been sitting in there with mould growing all through pregnancy (worst in the corner of the room i normally sit. It was removed, so as far as black mould is concerned there is currently no regrowth, but there has been this fluffy white mould which keeps regrowing, again in the corner i sit. I don't know what effect this will have on the baby, whether i will have been breathing in spores, and if this will have affected the baby. We have a dehumidifier and are trying to keep the mould and moisture down, so hopefully will be ok for baby once he's here x

Mould can cause serious problems for you and for any baby's respiratory system, so not trying to worry you but get it sorted as soon as you can. In the meantime (get someone else to) use a mould spray on it, let it dry for 5 mins then wipe it off with kitchen roll and throw away. Don't wipe it with a cloth or anything you'll then put in the wash as the spores get into your machine and will go into clothes, etc.

We used to live in rented accommodation with a serious mould problem and a specialist came out to try and fix it after it had got so bad the council threatened our landlords so we did manage to get a few tips from him. Hope you get it sorted.x

Where I live mouldy townhouses are basically everywhere. We rented so many flats in houses like this and my chest could take no more. One was so bad I got ringworm everywhere. We bought a newbuild in the end because I was just constantly ill, dh was fine (he's a big strapping eastern European) I'm all of them but I think he got tired of me being ill all the time.

My genuine advice? Get a specialist in. It's not worth the risk to you or your family. Or just limit exposure in that part of the house. I'm sure it won't have affected your pregnancy though. Babies are hardy little things and it's not like you're putting the cot up against that wall.

I'm sure your baby is well protected in there. Mould is a fucker. Try rubbing a strong soloution of water and Milton sterilising tablets on the wall after it's been cleaned. Thus should deter re-growth. Has worked a trick for me recently - I wish I'd known of ot sooner.

Baby won't be hurt inside you ... but your lungs need a break and of course once baby is out mould is a no-no so I agree with PP pay for someone to come in and get rid!

The best product I have found for getting rid of mould is HG mould spray - just spray it on and the mould disappears. It even works on grout and sealant. You could then repaint the area with some paint that has anti-mould stuff in it.
