Cramping and bleeding started this morning- I'm frightened :-(

I am 5 weeks pregnant and this morning had cramping as though my AF was coming. I've now got reasonably heavy bleeding- like a heavy period. I'm so scared. This has got to be bad news hasn't it?

Do I just sit it out or do I need to see the GP?

I'm sat here in tears which seems so silly when I only found out I was pregnant 2 days ago.

Love- that is very reassuring. I am thinking the worst as I reay can't see how anything can survive this amount of bleeding. I might be surprised though.

Seeing the midwife at lunchtime. I'm in work today and feeling pretty rubbish. Bleeding is still the same and tummy is very uncomfortable :-(

Good luck for lunchtime Wiggly. Have they given any indication of if you'll have a scan and result today? x

Loveallmyboys · 02/07/2014 09:36

Good luck today. I thought exactly the same as you re amount of bleeding. But, I've had 5 episodes of extreme gushes with clots-Woke up covered in blood one night-and the size of this THING that fell into my hand, I was sure it was game over. But nope, my jelly bean hung on in there. I bleed every day now like a light period so you'd be surprised what these little people can endure...x

WigglyWigglyWoo · 02/07/2014 09:55

That is extremely reassuring- thank you. I need to start thinking more positive thoughts for my little bean!

They won't scan me at the appointment as it is just with the midwife at my GP surgery. I guess she may send me for a scan at the hospital though- I hope so.

I would think so. Got everything crossed for you :)

blankfornames · 02/07/2014 10:25

Best of luck Wiggley. Hope you get your positive scan today.

WigglyWigglyWoo · 02/07/2014 14:28

Well I saw an absolutely lovely midwife :-)

She basically said it's far too early to detect anything on a scan so there was no point in doing one. She would expect the bleeding to be stopping by Friday. She said if it's still heavy on Friday to call the GP and the EPU will likely want to see me. If bleeding is stopping take a test on the weekend at if it's Negative presume miscarriage :-( if it's positive I have to retest after 4 days and see what it says. She would expect hormone levels to have dropped enough for a negative result by the weekend.

She said it is possible this isn't a miscarriage although not terribly likely :-(

So for now I am mainly waiting and bleeding and bleeding and waiting

Oh wiggly! At least she told you straight and you know where you stand now, there's still hope! Just keep playing that horrible waiting game. Fingers crossed for you Thanks

I've just arranged an appointment at the EPU for tomorrow. Got very lucky there, she's just managed to squeeze me in!
So so so nervous! But at least this time tomorrow I'll know either way x

cluecu · 02/07/2014 15:07

Wiggly did she take a blood test? Your situation is very similar to mine then but it sounds like they're assessing the hormone levels in a slightly different way?

The waiting is horrible - longest few days of your life it feels like.

Mogwai - really, really hoping for the best for you tomorrow. Let us know when you can Thanks

WigglyWigglyWoo · 02/07/2014 16:09

No she didn't take a blood test. Just told me to sit it out and see what happens. It really is frustrating.

Mogwai will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Cluecu how's the bleeding now?

Mine is still the same but not such bad cramping :-)

OP posts:
cluecu · 02/07/2014 16:20

The bleeding has almost stopped now and still haven't had any cramps or real clotting but with mine being so early I also can't imagine how there can be anything left after all the bleeding!

Loveallmyboys · 02/07/2014 16:20

The wait is the worst! I had to wait 10 days between scans. Felt like a lifetime. Thinking if you all...x

WigglyWigglyWoo · 02/07/2014 20:58

Cramping has gone now and the bleeding is lighter and more brown in colour.

I'm really hoping this is the end of it!

I've just read this thread and sending you all love and positivity. I really hope you are all ok. Big hugs xx

Wetthemogwai · 02/07/2014 22:20

That's good wiggly, fingers crossed Thanks

Loveallmyboys · 02/07/2014 22:45

That's a good sign missus. Stay positive :)

blankfornames · 03/07/2014 07:06

Hey Wiggly, the fact the bleedin has changed colour so quickly I reckon is a good sign. Stay positive m'dear! It's a hard wait but do everything to distract yourself for the next while.

cluecu · 03/07/2014 07:23

Yes sounding hopeful wiggly and mogwai, good luck with the appointment today. Thanks Thanks Thanks to you both x

Wetthemogwai · 03/07/2014 09:28

Thanks everyone, I'll keep you posted :)

How are you feeling today clue and wiggly? X

cluecu · 03/07/2014 10:54

Aw Smile

To be honest, for me, I have resigned myself to the fact that things will have to start again. But as I haven't been trying long and don't have any bad experiences (touch wood) I am not too upset.

I really feel for anyone in this situation; it affects everyone differently. I may feel differently again once I know for sure.

If I take a negative test on Saturday morning I will be on the cocktails that night!

Wetthemogwai · 03/07/2014 11:03

That's a great attitude clue :) if it doesn't happen this time then it's not the end of the world.

3 hours til the scan and I really don't know how I feel! I'm convinced she'll say the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks when my symptoms stopped but this morning I feel so sick!

I'll be so glad when I know!

WigglyWigglyWoo · 03/07/2014 11:17

Mogwai- good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying that everything is OK.

Cluecu- that's exactly the attitude I'm taking. I was really upset when the bleeding started on Tuesday. Now I feel that it's early days and I just feel fortunate that we were able to conceive so quickly. I'm presuming the test will be negative on Sunday- if it is it shouldn't take too long to start again. Think I will let myself have a normal period first though to let my body and hormones recover a bit. There's no hurry but once you've decided to TTC you just want to get on with it!

The bleeding is a bit worse than last night but better than yesterday morning so I'm hoping by the end of the day it will be better.

Hi everyone, just got out of my appointment.

Bit of a mixed review really and I'm not very reassured but there was definitely something there.

I only measured 7 weeks which is impossible and although the nurse said she saw a hint of a heart beat (eventually!) I never saw it and it certainly wasn't a strong one.

Definitely not convinced and have 3 weeks to wait til the 12 weeks scan :(

Loveallmyboys · 03/07/2014 15:16

How very annoying for you! Sorry it wasn't more conclusive for you x

WigglyWigglyWoo · 03/07/2014 16:01

Oh god 3 weeks! That's a long time to wait.

Surely they must have been convinced they could find a heartbeat or they would be scanning you again sooner? I'm sure this has to be a promising sign.

Waiting is agonising but at least we can all do the waiting together- we can do this!!
