Question about baths?!

I am about 8 weeks pg at the moment and just wondering what I should be doing in terms of having a bath.

Usually if I have one then I have it scalding hot! I don't like them warm and I very rarely put any cold in them!
I'm just wondering if I should be avoiding this because of the baby? Is it safe to have a hot bath??

They generally say a warm, not hot bath is best:

  1. too hot can make you faint/dizzy/sick/sleepy with all the extra strain on your cardiac system
  2. clinically overheating can be a risk to pregnancy. However this is quite rare but of course bearing the above in mind I guess they worry you will either not realise or not be able to get out in time.

I've had plenty of hot baths (not scalding though) throughout my pregnancy and so far the little squiggler seems fine. There was no way I was going to have a bath in January at just above blood temperature. That defeats the entire purpose of a bath.

The best advice I read was: if the bath is so hot it makes you sweat or your skin change colour to red, it's too hot.

Now that the baby is head down I am a bit more wary of hot baths (don't want it to jiggle upright) and anyway it's the summer, so having the water a bit cooler.

Well I posted it because I was running myself a bath and had a sudden panic. Made it considerably cooler then usual and still have a banging head now.

I have very low blood pressure normally and I guess the heat would maybe lower it more.
Won't be doing that again in a hurry
