Hello,
I'm 7 weeks and for the last week I have had morning sickness. I have only thrown up once but I feel sick all day and am constantly gagging.
I have tried travel bands, sucking on hard sweets, ginger beer and biscuits, eating. I would love it if anyone has any tips that work I would be grateful. It is starting to get me down a bit.
Thank you.
xx

Watching this, only just graduated from nausea to puking this morning but I'm off to doctors tomorrow x

Hi Kit. I can sympathise. When pregnant with ds, I had constant nausea but very little vomiting. Stem ginger biscuits, drinking lots of water and sucking peppermints helped. It will pass.

I find salt and vinegar crisps help with that permanent hangover feeling and also eating little and often. I've always got breakfast bars in my handbag. Keep your sugar levels up and keep hydrated. Easier said than done I know when you feel so sick you can't be bothered to move from the sofa.

I asked the same question when I was feeling awful 3 months ago.

SassehMonsta · 29/06/2014 15:29

If you cant stomach eating anything, then try ice lollies. keep you hydrated and don't upset the stomach as they absorb into the mouth! And keeps some sugar going on. Please go and talk to your Dr, could be Hyperemesis.

Sour sweets. Anything sour really.

AChildminder88 · 29/06/2014 15:30

Dried cranberries worked for me!! I was always fine when I woke up, but if I started to rush around I felt awful- try to complete daily tasks at slower pace (sounds crazy but worked for me) fizzy water was also great because it made me burp and shifted the nauseous feeling!

It will pass- I'm approaching week 12 and my sickness is fading away x

I'm at 9 weeks and so far have found ice lollies and grapes to be my saving grace!

Redling · 29/06/2014 19:10

Carbs carbs carbs, the plainest white carbs available, white bread toast, noodles, crackers etc. Ginger etc did nothing for me. TBH non of the 'remedies' worked for me, I vomited multiple times a day for 2 months, with variations of frequency and time of day, and I doubt what I did made much difference, it's just easier throwing up incredibly bland foods. Fruit juice and water to stay hydrated, and I liked to chew gum as the minty taste and the chewing did distract from sick and the thought of sick. Do try and stuff down something though, because then even if you throw up, it's unlikely to be everything you've eaten. And I did crave salty stuff. Couldn't bear any meat or veg. And coco pops were a bit of a lifesaver, I could keep them down an I'm sure the iron and vitamins they are fortified with got me through when I vommed up all my pregnancy vitamins!

At 7 weeks I could just about keep down ice lollies (fruit pastille ones were best!), orange squash, cold flat coke and digestives.

Pusspuss1 · 29/06/2014 19:46

See your GP. Cyclizine sorted mine out.

kitkatkaty87 · 29/06/2014 21:10

Thanks guys, lots of suggestions to try.
I discovered grapes yesterday which are divine as long as I don't eat too many. I'm hoping I'll just get used to it!

bread seems to be the one thing i know will go down. I just feel guilty eating all this stodgy crap when i should be getting nutrients!
Oh well better than nothing.
I agree with the veg thing. The thought of a vegetable makes me want to vomit!

Really cold sprite might work. It cures sick hangovers. So might help morning sickness.

penguins123 · 30/06/2014 08:05

salt & vinegar crisps. nibble something before you get out of bed too

FloweryBoots · 30/06/2014 08:16

Cold cold drinks, flatish coke, ice lollies. I find grapes help/can be stomached too and also manage pears (apples sometimes but they're more effort to chew so I can't manage them if it's already quite strong).

TwigletFiend · 30/06/2014 10:17

You can freeze grapes too, which was a blessing for me. Even when I was nauseous enough that they wouldn't stay down at room temperature, frozen grapes were fine and a bit healthier than packet after packet of ice lollies! Though I ate those too!

Don't worry about eating 'healthily' - it's more important that you are staying hydrated and eating something. Have whatever you fancy (or can stomach) at this stage. Baby will take what it needs from you regardless!

DrewsWife · 30/06/2014 10:40

im 15 and took me until 12 to recover. for me lemon sorbet.... lemon ice anything like that worked like a dream..

I could eat as much fruit as I wanted but normal food made me ill.

apple juice keeps me going as well.

Woktum1 · 30/06/2014 20:19

The homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica has helped women that I know with their nausea. Eating little and often can help too. Good luck - I hope it passes soon!
