Sit Down! Rant

I'm 28 weeks, and find it far more comfortable to stand, kneel or lean than sit on most office chairs.
People are constantly telling me to 'sit down', then doing patronising "shock" faces when I explain I feel fine and my MW/ObGyn/Ante-natal teacher/Yoga teacher says walking and not sitting is healthy during pregnancy.
They say "but you're high risk" which makes me a bit Angry for some reason...I take anti-coagulants, I'm not a frail little thing on my last legs and bubs certainly isn't she says, reading up on pain relief and pereneal massage.

AND BREATHE...

Lying down is also good but I agree that sitting on an office chair is not the best. I don't think the baby likes it. Tell them you'll do what's most comfortable thank you very much!

squizita I sit in an office chair all day and find by around now, it's almost unbareable and I will get up and wander around the office just to move. As amy says my baby doesnt like me being sat down for too long either (I'm currently 33+3). Just tell them to mind their own.

I have found sitting on a gym ball at home is so comfy - was advised to do this rather than slouch on a sofa as my baby was B2B at 31 weeks and I -pray- think the baby has now shifted into an anterior position. The gym ball keeps your back straight, your knees below your hips and is "optimal for fetal positioning" Plus having a good old bounce is fun too. Maybe bring one of those into work and watch your colleagues gawp!

I found it hard to sit on anything other than a hard kitchen chair for most of 2nd and 3rd trimester.standing or lying down were the only comfortable options. I used a back support on my office chair at work...it made it much more bearable, pushing my lower back forward, made it easier to breathe... so maybe ask your boss if u can order one.

Monkey my job doesn't require me to sit down that much! It's just people see a pregnant woman and assume she should be sitting down - I use a laptop or iPad in one hand and stride round the building most of the time! (Hence my MN habit when patrolling isn't exciting).
There just seem to be a lot of busybodies people who think I should be sitting fanning myself!

Although when I do need help lifting something heavy or a loo break ... suddenly tumbleweed!
