Okay I need advice. I'm totallynedle phobic, and it seems more now I know my fave doctor isn'tworking anymore. I'm shitting myself about blood tests at the booking in appointment. When and if I do fall pregnant, if I ask my doctor do you think they will let me goto the blood taking place in the hospital? Where they do it wall day every y day. I remember going there with second baby but can't remember why. I also have to have numbing cream.

Imhaving a panic attack just thinking about it tbh!

Just ask your midwife, I'm sure it won't be a problem. I had to go to the hospital anyway as my veins are impossible to find, and my midwife couldn't do it.

I only had blood taken at booking app and then 30 week scan that's all. They don't take it every time you have an app

I always have mine done at the hospital - my veins are rubbish and they just can't manage it at my surgery. My maternity hospital even has its own phlebotomy clinic. Just ask the midwives for the forms and take yourself there, I can imagine they will even be grateful if you aren't easy to get blood out of!

Yes, just ask, I'm sure it won't be a problem. The midwife will be able to give you a form and I can't see why there should be an issue Smile

Agree just ask for the forms. Your midwife will probably be relieved that they don't have to do it.

The phlebotomist comes to my gp surgery one afternoon a week so you may not even need to go to the hospital. I always had mine taken by phlebotomist as midwives always struggled to find my veins but the expert was able to do t in seconds!

My midwife offered to use a baby needle at my booking-in appointment, (ie the type of needle that they would use to take blood from a baby) and was very gentle and it was absolutely fine. I would suggest calling in advance and explaining your phobia and asking if they could order some of these in if not already in stock?
