I'm soo angry right now sorry for the ranting
We were told last week they were only offering contract to percentage people
Am soo annoyed tho got told today im not getting one based on last month stats seems soo unfair they know my stats are shot due to being pregnant and having hb but they refusing to take that into consideration and go on face value
Im totally fed up and to make worse taken up pretty much my entire team except me and another boy. Feel so fed up who going employ me whilst pregnant
Sorry for the rant xx

Hi OP, sorry to hear that they're putting you through this sort of thing whilst being pregnant.

If this is the sort of establishment I think it is then I'm not surprised at all I'm afraid. They only look at figures and treat you as a number.

Is there someone that you trust in there that you could talk to about it and maybe get a second look at the decision?

If not, then yes it is very unlikely that you would get another job whilst being pregnant, especially if you're past 1st trimester. (I know because I became unemployed right before finding out I am pregnant and I haven't been able to find a job)

If that's the case for you, then I would recommend signing on until you can claim for Maternity Allowance. That's what I had to do and have just swapped over to MA now. It's not ideal but it's something, and you should qualify for MA as you have been working up until this point.

Look on www.gov.uk for info on both JSA and MA.

I also know how it feels to be shat on at work, it's not a nice feeling at all, but things will work out. You have to concentrate on looking after your little one >.<

xx

If you want to challenge it you could seek advice from ACAS ... It smells like discrimination to me...

You should contact your union, as this sounds like pregnancy discrimination to my which is against the law.

bearwithspecs · 21/06/2014 23:45

Sex discrimination - seek advice as they can't do this

natharley11 · 22/06/2014 10:13

Yeah I been suffering with Gb so off work and when have been in been very sick so not been on phone as much . But they know all this just look at them as stand
Think be hard to prove discrimination as they left some other people as well based on their stats
Don't think can do much but im just mad

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 22/06/2014 13:28

They can't discriminate because you are pregnant. You are very well protected. Phone ACAS for advice.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 22/06/2014 13:49

The other thing is, your stats aren't up because you've been off due to pregnancy related illness, not because you just haven't done very well.

natharley11 · 22/06/2014 16:04

Their basically saying couldn't take every one on and my stats are low even rho they know why so taken them with highest stats feels pretty Crappy but im just going look something else as think be pretty hard to prove discrimination

OP posts:
Pobblewhohasnotoes · 22/06/2014 17:03

Why do you think it would be hard to prove? You've been off due to pregnancy, you can prove that.

natharley11 · 22/06/2014 17:06

But can I prove they would have given me a contract if wasn't pregnant as if is stat driven can't prove what stats would have been for last month if wasn't pregnant
Worth a try tho

OP posts:
Chocotrekkie · 22/06/2014 17:07

Can't you ask them to work out your stats based on the number of days worked ?

So xx that they have kept on has worked 25 days this month and has made 100.
So 4 per working day.

You have worked 5 days and made 25. So 5 per working day ?

Or does that not help ??

natharley11 · 22/06/2014 17:12

I don't think our stats work like that they are not sales driven so like percentage time in work vs scheduled time . Percentage time on phone vs scheduled time . Complaints raised call times and hold times etc

natharley11 · 22/06/2014 17:13

Thanks for all the advice tho

Saw this thread and just had to post a message. I write as a senior HR manager and I can confirm that pregnancy related illness cannot be used for this. Any illness caused by your pregnancy, that is then used in such a way as to disadvantage you, would be Sex Discrimination. Likewise illness caused by a disability but used in this way could be Disability Discrimination. Stand your ground and ask them to only consider any absence not caused by pregnancy. HTH.
