I don't know weather it is me or not, but did any other mum feel uneasy when it came to finishing work?? Its my last day at work on Wednesday and am using my annual leave before baby arrives. Past couple of days even though I have been on count down, in one way I feel really happy, but on the other hand uneasy as I know they are going to be short staffed.

I feel the same. You spend weeks looking forward to it and as it approaches the reality sinks in.

I've delayed my finish date due to staffing issues and the guilt of leaving them in the poop.

I'll be looking forward to it as they can't wait to get rid of me according to my manager ! Bloody cheek .
I'll have to be job hinting on mat leave then I guess :-(

I had very mixed emotions (finished yesterday) I knew I had worked as long as possible and had a good handover HOWEVER my cover isn't starting until September so my team are going to have to make do for last 5 weeks of term (assistant head in primary school) have done all I could and put in place as much as I can. Just have to step away now and not look at emails etc!

I finish on Friday, and my boss has not sorted cover. Yes I feel bad about the fact they will be short staffed (compounded by holiday season). However, they have had enough notice to sort cover and haven't. I've also worked 2 weeks longer than advised by doctor in mat unit! So no, I don't feel uneasy about it, I am just so ready to finish now!

I was uneasy but a lady in my team is covering my role and she's very good, so looking forward to it now! As soon as she was confirmed it took a weight off my mind.

I couldn't have given my work any more notice, and they still hadn't gotten something sorted in time! So their lack of handover with a replacement was their fault, but I left copious handover notes, I kept up my side of the bargain. The only thing I worry about is that if my replacement ends up being better than me! Last time, the girl that covered my post left after a few months so they struggled for ages, but were all so thankful when I returned. It was nice to feel appreciated. There were some parts of my job that weren't done properly when I was off, but you need to let go.

We found my mat cover teacher yesterday, he's 'alright' (loads of jobs going in my area at the moment, so hardly anyone applying for mat cover jobs), but I still feel as if I'm going to have to do quite a lot of work with him in the first 3 weeks of term/before I go back in June just to ensure he's covered our arses for the year.

19 working days until school holidays. 13 days after. Eek.

Am glad that I am not the only one to feel like this. It will be hard for me as I know that they have one person who has worked with us before so she knows what she is doing while she is off uni, the other guy that will be my main cover, from augast at ssome point, works in a different department doing the same type of things but works at a snails pace which is not good. Will have to think of plenty of things to do to keep my mind occupied until bubs arrive as after that I know I won't have time to think about work
