I'm 37+5 and was just on my way out the door to go to aqua when I decided I just couldn't do it! Help me feel better about my lazy self!

Pfffft exercise? Whats that?! OP your about to have a baby, i think you need to rest and not use up all your energy :)
Im only a week behind you but i have had a VERY lazy pregnancy (i do have SPD though so i kinda have an excuse Wink )

Miriama · 20/06/2014 10:14

I do walking to and from work daily, pregnancy yoga weekly, dog walking daily, gardening weekly and swimming erm monthly! But I am only 29 weeks and this is interspersed with lots of lazy time too. I think you are doing amazing to still do classes at 37 weeks! Take a break!

SandwichBag · 20/06/2014 10:39

I'm only 29 weeks and still doing ante natal DVDs 4/5 times per week and walking my horse for 30-45 minutes per day... I am hoping to continue until I give birth but who knows what I will feel like at 37 weeks, so I agree, give yourself a break!

eurochick · 20/06/2014 10:41

I'm walking, swimming and doing the odd bit of pre-natal pilates at 30 weeks. Not sure if I still will be doing it all at 37 weeks!

dontevenblink · 20/06/2014 12:25

Just running around after my 3dc (6, 4 and 2) constantly! Plenty of exercise for me (am 28 weeks) Grin

MrsPatMustard · 20/06/2014 12:28

3 weeks before I fell pregnant I went on a 15 mile walk. By the time I was 8 weeks preggers, I struggled to walk up the stairs. Was knackered all through pregnancy and sat on my bum throughout. Pushing a buggy everywhere and running around after a baby soon compensates for 9 sedate months....

GandTnow · 20/06/2014 12:36

Any tips for a good pregnancy DVD? Have read mixed reviews of Davina and at the moment I'm doing Jillian Michaels, but already finding it a bit much (only 5 weeks! Blush)

SandwichBag · 20/06/2014 14:18

I've got Suzanne Bowen's Pregnancy Workout Lean & Toned, Erin O'Brien's Complete Pregnancy Fitness and the 10 minute solution Prenatal Pilates DVD.

To be honest none of them get me out of breath (although I was fit before). I've been doing the 10 minute solution Pilates one the most as the woman on it has lovely toned legs so I assume if it works for her it will work for me.

From what I can gather they are mainly for toning - you still need to add on Cardio yourself i.e. walking or swimming or cycling.

RAFWife12 · 20/06/2014 14:27

I'm 34 weeks, have SPD. Only exercise i do is work (active job) and -walking- waddling the dog twice a day. If DH was home i wouldnt be out with the dog every day! Dont have time/energy for anything else. Hopimg to go swimming when finished work, if i can be bothered to invest in a swimsuit that wont be used much!

museumum · 20/06/2014 14:31

I did quite a lot but only up to about 37/38 wks. Then I had a nice massage and went to preggy yoga and just lolled around. Gave birth at 39+2 and was back to a gentle cycle after three weeks so it was only a 3-4wk break and I felt good.

GandTnow · 20/06/2014 14:35

Thanks sandwich, I'll give them a look on Amazon. I'm keen not to get too out of shape and, like yousay stay toned as I think it will make me feel better about my tummy being so big (not first pregnancy and already looking bloated!)

SandwichBag · 20/06/2014 14:56

Beacuse of this thread i've just been on Amazon and brought: The Pregnancy and Post Natal Workout bu Sharon Marrett-Gregory and Pregnancy Health Yoga, Post Natal Yoga and Yoga for You and your Baby (Bump, Birth and Beyond) with Tara Lee [3dvd box]... I finish work at 36 weeks so hoping to do something everyday. I really struggle to sit down for more than 5 mins, even now at 29 weeks, just can't sit still and would rather do an excersise DVD than the housework :)

ithoughtofitfirst · 20/06/2014 19:20

Go running and wave at all the @#$%& that give you dirty looks for running with a bump.

Literally nearly cried laughing on one run where some fat old Bint told me I should be ashamed of myself.

I am mortified with myself for feeling so fit and healthy and keeping myself in tip top condition for labour and looking after a newborn and a toddler.

You can't win though, last pregnancy I took it easy and my mum had a pop at me for 'lazing about' and pregnancy not being an illness.

If people could mind their own business and trust you to know your own body it would be something.

Heatherbell1978 · 20/06/2014 22:12

I'm 32 wks and I'm still walking to and from work each day (about 4 km each way) and I do an antenatal yoga class each week. I have a yoga DVD at home I do occasionally too. I still feel totally fine and hoping to carry on exercising right to the end. In fact just bought a maternity swimsuit so planning to add swimming to that once I finish up with work. I've had a really easy pregnancy and still no heartburn, swelling, bladder issues, backache etc.....I put that down to being active throughout:-)

ohthegoats · 20/06/2014 23:08

Only 26 weeks here, but still swimming, doing a standing up job, and cycling around as I used to. I have a really odd stitch pain that arrives if I walk too fast at the moment (last couple of weeks), so have needed the swimming and cycling to feel still normal about my body. Hope I'll be able to carry on right to the end. I have noticed though that I'm quite tired from physical 'stuff', it definitely makes a difference as to what time I need to go to bed etc.

I keep trying to go to prenatal yoga, but I hate yoga at the best of times, I just don't think it's going to work for me really. Should give up and stop feeling guilty about it.

icklekid · 21/06/2014 05:49

37 weeks still at gym 3 times a week (one of those supervised by physio for spd) and swimming. I feel the swimming may need to increase and cardio decrease in next week or so as get out of breath much quicker these days which is frustrating!

Mango92 · 21/06/2014 07:57

on my, I haven't lifted a finger since I got pregnant. Was puking my guts up for the first 20 weeks then was too tired after that.
I do the odd bit of yoga to stretch out and keep myself from getting stiff but right now, I cant even make it upstairs without needing a sit down lol Grin Grin

juneau · 21/06/2014 08:02

If you can't face anything else OP, just walk. I didn't go to the gym very much at all during my two pregnancies, but I walked every single day and I know that staying active helped me to not seize up! I got so stiff when I was pregnant and walking really helped with that. I suspect it also helped me to have two normal deliveries too, even though I gained quite a bit of weight (about 40lbs each time).

melliebobs · 21/06/2014 08:10

I was very lucky during pregnancy and remained active throughout. Did spinning and general gym stuff till about 30 weeks. Them did Swimming every other day till 39 weeks when I had frozen my gym membership from and walked 3 miles a day even the day before I had her at 42+3. I do realise that like I said I was very lucky and had a very comfortable pregnancy

LucyB1 · 21/06/2014 10:12

Just found a wonderful pregnancy yoga session on u tube. Feel better for doing something. Not used to bunking off the gym. Will do this everyday along side my yoga class that i go to. Think yoga is definitely the way forward!! Grin

I walked the dog all the way through my last pregnancy, and this time have a dog and a toddler, who both demand to do out twice a day at least, for an hour at a time. Beyond that? No!

HazleNutt · 21/06/2014 13:24

I got some horrified looks when I was still not only going to classes, but teaching Bodypump 9 months pregnant. Grin
You can't win, can you - either you're lazy sitting on the sofa or selfishly exercising.

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/06/2014 13:32

hazlenutt the looks I get when I'm running really put me off going to the gym

Just bumped into my neighbour in Lidl of all places and she hadn't realised I was pregnant and was horrified about the running. I guess people are just concerned... As if they need to be cause we clearly couldn't give a crap!

HazleNutt · 21/06/2014 13:37

And the "but..is it safe???" questions. Do people really think that pregnant women haven't thought about that and done their research?
