Help me get raspberry leaf in me

Hiya, I'm 35 weeks tomorrow have have been drinking the odd cup of raspberry leaf tea for about 5 weeks. However it's giving me heartburn so iv decided to try the tablets instead. However I can't swallow tablets. I emptied he contents into an orange juice today but it was kinda gross and the power doesn't resolve just goes lumpy.
Anyone added the capsule content into anything that makes it drinkable?

Also how many tablets a day should I be taking at this point?

Thanks x

What and why? Never heard of it before

Rockchick1984 · 18/06/2014 17:24

Make the tea in advance and drink it cold instead of hot?

WaitingForMyMam · 18/06/2014 17:26

Is this about the old wives tale that raspberry leaf brings on labour?

Rockchick1984 · 18/06/2014 17:29

It doesn't bring on labour, it encourages Braxton hicks which tones the uterus and makes your contractions more effective.

Needadvice5 · 18/06/2014 17:32

I swore by it when I was pregnant with my last dc and the midwife actually asked me if I had been drinking it when she did an internal exam, was the easiest delivery.

I made jugs of it that I chilled in the fridge!

RoseberryTopping · 18/06/2014 17:35

Have you tried the loose leaf stuff? I've found it better than the tea bags and it's 100% instead of 30% or so that the tea bags seem to be. Doesn't give me heart burn like the tea bags either

justhayley · 18/06/2014 18:01

Thanks all.

It's not supposed to bring on labour just make contractions stronger and more effective. No idea if it's an old wives tale but I drank it with DS1 & was in active labour for 2 hours. It may have been a coincidence but I'm not taking my chances 2nd time round.

Have tried drinking it cold, still get heartburn, although not fridge chilled do that's worth a shot - thank you.
Might even make Raspberry leaf Lollies lol.
Havnt tried the leaves out of bags either - thank you

Oh I don't mean take it out the tea bag, I mean stuff like this. You just need a tea strainer and a tea pot. Tastes a bit like plant water like!

justhayley · 19/06/2014 02:06

Lol oh no I got that Roseberry - wasn't planning on taking the scissors to my tea bags Grin Thanks for the link x

Hell I might start drinking my tea with cut up teabags. For shits and giggles.

Concernedbiddy · 19/06/2014 19:15

I drank it through all my pregancies and all where straight forward no complications, no tears and all under 30 mins long from start to finsh!

I will be drinking it again this time

RoseberryTopping · 19/06/2014 19:33

Haha sorry, I just wanted to clarify in case you were about to start cutting up all your tea bags!! Grin

marthabear · 19/06/2014 19:45

Raspberry leaf tea lollies in labour are fab.

MrsPatMustard · 20/06/2014 12:33

I took one capsule of raspberry leaf and my waters broke 12 hours later. Possibly a coincidence but who can say...

Barbsta · 20/06/2014 14:27

Where can you buy the capsules? Other then holland and Barrett

CashmereMouse · 20/06/2014 15:02

if you can't swallow the capsules whole, could you try mixing the contents with a spoonful of jam and swallow in one go. (this is what my mum used to do for me as a kid when I couldn't swallow paracetamol tablets etc, it's still my go-to solution as a n adult!)

It doesn't taste too great but it gets it over and done with quickly and the jam masks the flavour a little and enables me to swallow it.
