Hi, hoping that I might get some feedback here. I have been treated for pcos for many years (am now 37) and prescribed metformin for it. However, despite thinking it would take ages to get pregnant I was successful after 2 months of trying. And now 32 weeks, still on metformin, everything seemily going really well. I had a blood glucose test at 28 weeks due to family history of diabetes and my condition, but having heard nothing I presumed all was well. Indeed not: at my midwife appt today I was told the levels were abnormal and some error in not getting this result to me sooner. So now I am freaking out that I have been untreated for several weeks and what effect this may have on baby. I have read increased risk of still birth and am really scared now, convinced something bad will happen, as it has all seemed too easy so far.

Hey Poppet, pcos suffer here to didnt get told till a month after test. Worse thing you can do is sit and worry, what they will do is get you in to do more scans, get you to see the specialist in diabetes and may get you to see a specialist obstectric (i do), they may give you a diabetes machine to test your blood sugars throughout the day to mointor so they can watch. They will also book extra scans if like me to mointor babys growth and to check for anything. They will do a blood test on baby after they are born to check sugars and mointor. They also if you do have GD tend to want to bring the baby a little early just to make sure okay. I hope this helps. Happy thoughts youve made it this far! im only 5 days ahead of you so know how it feels. Hope this helps again Thanks

Gd tend to get worse as the pregnancy progresses so it's good you're at least starting now. Also the metformin would at least have had some effect.

There's no point worrying now(although we all do) but ask for a growth scan asap so you can see if the baby is growing ok and isn't too big or too small due to the gd. Hopefully it'll put your mind at ease.

I think the stillbirth thing is later in pregnancy when high blood sugars cause the placenta to age more quickly but you should.get more.scans and non stress tests for that anyway towards the end of the pregnancy.

I've got gd, not fun but manageable.
