When should I ring to get a doctors appointment?

I had a MC on 11th May (5weeks) and once I stopped bleeding we got back to business after the doctor said it was fine and there was no need to wait. Well looks like we're super fertilemertle Wink as I got a bfp last night. Grin (and again this morning when I double checked with first pee of the day.)

When should I try and get in at the doctors? We wanted to ask for an early scan to make sure this little one was sticky. Is it best to ring asap or wait a bit?

The only reason I ask is with my first when I went to the doctors to say I'm pregnant what do I do now. The 'so what' attitude I recieved was horrendous and I ended up breaking down on the phone to the midwife (whose number had been thrust at me by the rude doctor.) and being refered to the hospital. I didn't have a booking appointment or anything and I was 15 weeks before I got my dating scan. I was expecting a bit more from the doctor considering they knew my medical history (Cancer 4 years before) and I'm a bit reluctant to speak to them again just to be told 'yeah, you can't have an early scan' because they are too lazy to ring the hospital and make the arrangements. Saying that the doctor I saw about my MC was lovely but he was a floating doctor and probably wouldn't be there again.

Sorry about your mc but congrats on your bfp!

Get an appointment soon because it's different this time, what with you having such recent mc. Did you have a negative test inbetween your mc and this bfp? They will want to be sure of that etc

Sorry you had such an awful experience with the Dr last time. Is there any way you can change to a different practise?

If your MC was treated at a hospital, or via a MW, try contacting them and explaining it's very soon after. For safety reasons they may well be keen to scan you. The risks of anything actually being wrong are very low (5-1%) but it means you get a quick viability scan and 99% likely the peace of mind it brings! :)

Did the Dr ask you to do a negative test and/or book you for a scan before trying again? They usually do (well, they should). To rule out a false loss (e.g. a twin miscarrying and the other's alive) and make sure all the tissues that died have come out (upsetting but that's what they do).

If s/he didn't this will act in your favour because you can ask for a scan to ensure it's a new pregnancy!

I had 3 lots of blood tests done and I presume my levels went down to 0 as when I rang for the 3rd lot of bloods the receptionist said I wasn't pregnant anymore. I also tested last Thursday because I didn't feel right and had started getting symptoms again it was bfn. So it should be a new pregnancy.

I went to the walk in centre when I first started bleeding and got a very nice nurse who rang the early pregnancy unit at the hospital and they said try taking another test in 2 weeks to see if it was a mc or if your still pregnant!!!! But the nurse took bloods anyway as she didn't want me waiting that long. Then it was just the GP I saw. Sometimes I think I have the worst luck with doctors.
Anyway thanks for the advice I'll try and get an apoointment this side of Christmas. Hmm
