Informing mortgage and insurance- when?

I assume I need to inform my life insurance and mortgage company I'm expecting: when should I do that? ASAP or near the time?

Both are in my name, no one else named on them.

Why would you need to inform them? It never occurred to me to do that .....

stargirl1701 · 09/06/2014 07:47

No, you don't.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 09/06/2014 07:48

Errr....never? Unless I missed something.

headlesslambrini · 09/06/2014 07:48

I never did either.

polkadotdelight · 09/06/2014 07:48

I hadnt planned on telling the mortgage company. I dont have life insurance yet but I would tell them when the baby is born just in case not doing so invalidates your policy in some way.

I was applying for my mortgage when pregnant. The mortgage advisor said it made no difference and didn't need noting.

I told my buildings/contents insurance on renewal. Premiums went up a bit.

ISpyPlumPie · 09/06/2014 07:53

Never occurred to me either.

aprovinciallady · 09/06/2014 07:56

Nope.

squizita · 09/06/2014 08:06

Oh cool, thanks. Will just tell my insurers when I renew (they send a survey through anyway).

One less thing to do. :)

You might need to tell the life insurance company as you may wish to change your beneficiary to be your DC. In fact you may want to review the level of your life insurance cover to provide some extra now you'll have a DC to provide for. But otherwise you don't need to tell them.
