less movement after exercise?

I have noticed all through pregnancy that there would be less movement from the baby on days i had been busy or exercised (by exercise only really walking), i thought it could be that the me being more active was rocking him to sleep, or (unscientifically) that I'd tired him out. He always went back to normal the next day, so didn't worry too much.
I read in my pregnancy book today, however, that if movement regularly reduces after exercise, you should ask the midwife for advice.
I am now 35+1. Has anyone else had this, and did you ask for advice? x

How funny, I was just calmly telling my husband that my baby is quiet today after I'd been swimming and how it always seems to tire him out. Never really thought it would be a problem because it happens each time I swim. Also - when walking I think we notice the movements less. Maybe I'll mention it to my midwife though...

I know, its hard to know if its of concern, i certainly wasn't worried before. It certainly said in the book monitor movements if they seem less, and i found some babycentre advice saying to tell midwife if movements reduced. On the other hand my baby is wriggling around loads today (a normal activity day for me), so who knows? I read on another site it could be a sign your overdoing things if baby's not moving as much x

Just posting the link to babycentre advice i found. www.babycentre.co.uk/a7818/danger-signs-when-exercising-pregnancy
Advice about reduced movement is at the bottom of the moment page. Doesn't say all that much though!

*bottom of the page, don't know where the word 'moment' came from...

I've been told you feel less movement when busy/physically exerting yourself, which rings true for me.

Mine goes back to normal afterwards. What she really hates is bad constipation days for some reason

Maybe phone the helpline and mention it? Baby centre I've found can be quite scary compared to NHS, Mumsnet and NCT.

Any change in babies movements should be checked out by a midwife. Usually though you dont notice movements as much if your moving youself.

monitoring your babies movements is important, and its more to do with the normal pattern for you and your baby rather than counting how many movements.

Thanks fanjodisfunction, yeah, i see that reduced movements should be checked, for some reason i never thought in this case it was a problem, i suppose because i assumed my activity was rocking the baby, or i was too busy/tired to notice movement, as well as the fact it returned to normal the following day.
I agree, squizita, some sites seem to be a bit more alarmist. Sometimes hard to know which advice to take. Think i will mention to midwife next time, though, or phone for advice if it happens again before then x

Same happens with me after swimming or pump - but then I usually have to eat straight after exercise, at which point it goes nuts again.

Our lil mans different! He moves more if i do alot of walking and dont sit down much for the day. Its quite uncomfy as with every movement it feels like hes gonna burst open and fall out my tummy! Tends to sleep when i do :) x
