Any information much appreciated - I am expecting DC2. Had a crash section with DC1 and am unwilling to VBAC for various reasons so will be having an elective section. I have major work commitments for the month the baby is due, which I will need to recuse myself from sooner rather than later so taht they can be adequately handed over to someone else, but in order to plan a head a bit it would be very helpful if anyone who has had an elective section (NHS) can tell me when they do it. I think they do it a bit before your EDD but I don't know how much before. Any info much appreciated. I haven't got a midwife appointment for another few weeks and I would like to know before hand and when I phoned the hospital today they said they didn't know......

They aim to do it as close to 39 weeks as possible, as this reduces the risks of breathing difficulties for the baby.

Standard practice is at 39 weeks, though you may have the flexibility of a day either way. Good luck!

Usually 39-40 weeks. Before 39 weeks there is a slightly increased risk of respiratory complications.
