Hi ladies,

Just after some ideas...throughout my pregnancy I had a lovely midwife and also the midwife who delivered my ds was lovely. I would like to get them a present, something other than chocolates! Just wondered if you had any ideas!

TIA x

I just got flowers. My MW said that they thing they like best is a thank you letter!

In the nhs you have to declare any gifts over a certain value, often five quid, so receiving a nice bottle of wine can go from a lovely gesture to an administrative pain in the arse.

I'd go with a thank you card, sure it will be appreciated.

We went with a thank you card and chocolates!

I sent cards and photos to my two midwives (and some chocolates). I wrote a long message, and I think the photo (of me and baby just post delivery) would be nice to remember someone, you probably don't remember gifts as much

I made up a hamper of nice mugs, hot chocolate, biscuits, luxury teas and fruit teas etc.

They raffled it among all the staff but I thought it would get used in the staff room Grin

We sent some tea and coffee in a basket.

A photo and personal note is always really lovely.

Other ideas I have thought about for my midwife. Hand cream, nice hamper with biscuits abd tea etc, flowers.

Watching this one too. I will be doing the same

12 bottles of wine for dd1 and same again for dd2 with thank you notes. To share out amongst the midwives and docs.

Disclaimer - my dad works for a wine company and he delivered them a couple of days after the births.

I work as a nurse and a proper thank you letter definitely means more than any gift. I've kept all my thank you letters and cards with anything meaningful written in them. Tea/coffee/biscuits/sweets/chocolates will always be appreciated by the team - especially on night shifts. If you wanted to get something for an individual, it can't be too expensive or they won't be able to accept (probably up to £10). I agree hand cream is good as nurses/midwifes are always washing hands, wine was always appreciated by me (but I do love wine and there may be some people who don't drink), and flowers are really sweet too. Book voucher or book. Relaxing bath bubbles.
