Hi all, I have just found out we are expecting our 2nd baby :-) I am approx 5 weeks pg. I have period type pain. Dr said I have cystitis and am on antibiotics. He said pain could be that or ectopic pg. I am also very bloated and look about 6 months pg already! I have had 2 mc previous and so am obviously worried. I didn't have pain like this when I was pg with my first. Is this normal? Am starting to freak out! X

I've certainly had it with both my pregnancies - much more severe the first time than the second time but definitely there.

If your doctor was worried it was ectopic he'd have sent you straight to hospital for an internal inspection and scan, so don't worry too much.

I had an ectopic scare about your time and have been hugely bloated for weeks, I went for a scan and a cyst in my ovary had exploded causing all the pain on one side. App it's really common. My symptoms were really mild without fever and I was taken straight from the doctors.

I also had period pains till about week 8, until I found out I was pregnant I was popping about twice the recommended dose of ibuprofen. They were quite itense.

It all sounds normal :) Try not to worry although it's easier said than done, every ache and pain still makes me uber paranoid.

Congratulations! It's such wonderful news and I hope it all goes smoothly for you x

It is normal. I had period-like pain a lot in the first six weeks or so, and my Mum had them throughout her pregnancies. My doctor said they are within the normal range of pregnancy symptoms - just pains associated with things growing and stretching! So don't worry.
