Congratulations! Have you talked to your doctor about seeing a dietician to find some good calorie dense foods? Given your weight before, presumably you weren't eating loads in the first place, so sending you away and telling you to do more of the same is not very helpful.

The stats show that it is better for your baby to gain within the guideline amounts, especially for people like us who are on the small side to begin with. It helps the baby to grow and gain enough nutrients and there's even a chance that it will help to prevent future obesity for them - small maternal weight gain may set the baby's metabolism to gain weight easily when older. Don't worry, though, you have 6 more months to catch up, and you'll feel better soon! If you're not usually big on food, this is a great chance for you and/or your partner to get more used to cooking for a family, or if you're naturally like this, then maybe that's just how it's meant to be for you!

Hi thanks so much. The doctor just told me to eat eat and eat. she said take smoothies or yogurts if bread turns you off... bit somehow its like everything is turning me off! :'( when will this morning all day sickness end?? i want a healthy normal baby hence the concern. tjankyou though, 6 months to catch up phew that does give some hope.

Poor you! I eat a lot of muesli bars, crackers (with cheese if possible) and biscuits in the first trimester, plus the lovely salt and vinegar crisps... Not the healthiest, but when I tried to be healthy with ds1 I also lost weight, all food just looks grim to me for the first few months! My best tip is to keep loads and loads of snacks on hand so that you can graze without thinking about it, especially as my sickness is much worse when I'm hungry. Is toast particularly offputting for you? Toast with lots f toppings (I used to have masses of almond butter and peanut butter when feeling a bit better) is otherwise quite good as it can get a lot of energy in you and is hard to bring up.

What are your absolute favourites? Can anyone else cook for you? Hope you feel better soon!

I'm at 11 weeks and also seem to have lost weight, now with BMI of 19.5 (used to be 20.5) despite the fact I have more of a stomach now (still not like a bump, and still wearing all my usual clothes). I've also been very nauseous but am surprised at my weight as I've been making myself eat 3 meals as normal plus all the nibbling on things in between to fight sickness. I do keep a little more active, though, because it helps my nausea. Perhaps this just happens for lighter women if you are not eating all that much. My MW didn't seemed worried at all. Agree with trying your absolute food favourites. I struggle to think about what I'm going to have for lunch or dinner, but I made my favourite dessert (crumble and custard!) for friends the other day, and ending up having thirds! Banana's are good high energy food. And if you can stomach avocado, they are very high in fat. Nuts and raisins are good snacks too, because healthy and lots of protein as well as nuts being high in calories.
