Hi All,

Just wanted to share the experience I had with a pregnancy reflexologist.
Having never found massages remotely relaxing, I decided to give reflexology a crack and I'm so glad I did!
I went because I was having the usual early pregnancy anxiety, coupled with insomnia.. and just needed some "me" time.

We were chatting away... and then about half an hour in I realised I hadn't spoken in a while (very unlike me)... and it dawned on my... I'm completely relaxed!!! That must have been a first! And when it was over I got a little teary.. which is normal, apparently.

Prior to the session I had been craving cornflakes and OJ (as a nutritional therapist - 2 of my usual no-go's!!) but as soon as I got home all I wanted was healthy fresh fruit and salads... And, my constipation was a thing of the past - went three times that afternoon (OK...TMI)

I'm definitely going to see her as often as I can throughout the pregnancy (if anyone lives in the Worcester area and wants her details let me know).

Anyone else had reflexology...? What did you think?xx

Yep. I had it last pregnancy. I was tormented with sciatic pain and although was sceptical reflexology could do anything, was sort of at my wits' end. Anyway, I felt just as evangelical as you sound after my first session when I realised that the pain had diminished and I'd had a great night's sleep. After the second session, pain totally gone. I kept going though because I enjoyed the relaxing so much and even nodded off a couple of times. I also think that the therapist really helped my body prepare for labour (DD came right on time).

Pg with DC2 now and DH got me a voucher for 2 sessions for my birthday which I'm rather excited about - if nothing else, it'll mean 2 hours' total relaxation.

You'll get loads of people saying it's woo bollocks but I cheerfully do not care - it's effective woo bollocks, so long as you have a good therapist! (Wish it wasn't so pricy though.)

I had it with DD2. Found it very relaxing, but that was about it.

Oh i am a BIG believer in Reflexology! always have been.
There is nothing like it to put you into a state of absolute relaxation.

i credit a reflexologist for me meeting my now husband.
I was in a very bad place back in 2010- just really miserable and down in the mouth- went to a reflexologist and she said my heart chambers were completely closed- i remember crying my eyes out at the end of that session, wondering if i'd ever feel happy again. I had 8 sessions with her and was like a new person- everyone couldnt believe the change in me!

Met my husband about a week after my last session. It was just like i was more open to falling in love! Mad. Going back to her for 4 sessions starting this saturday (am 37 weeks), 1 a week until my due date. Cannot wait.

ChicaMomma what an amazing story!!
And glad I wasn't the only one to burst into tears at the end!
Mine told me my small intestine softened right up throughout the session... not as poignant as heart chambers but it did the trick!! :)

I do agree that it completely depends on the therapist - mine is an amazing woman!

I'm studying a Nutriton Masters and usually everything needs to be fully researched and evidence based... but I'm also wise enough to know that not everything can be explained and some things just work!

I went to one when we were struggling to ttc. It didn't get me up the duff, but I did feel amazing afterwards. It's so relaxing. Unfortunately subsequent sessions couldn't quite recapture the effects of that amazing first session.

I agree ralv, sometimes you have to put aside 'peer reviews' and just go with it if it works, as you say, not everything is scientific. More than anything, a treatment that puts you into a deep sense of relaxation cant be bad.

One of my woman's specialties is bringing on labour if you go over your EDD- so i've booked 4 sessions, 2 pre EDD and 2 post.. if she's as good as she was back in 2010, i may not even need the 2 post!!!

best of luck to you too! x
