My friend has just learned her baby is breech. The MWs say they'll try to turn it in a couple of weeks if it hasn't turned by itself. They also say if it's breech she'll have to have a CS.
Really?
Has anyone had a baby turn at this point?
Has anyone delivered a breech naturally?

She's in a bit of a pg haze and not sure what to make of all this so I'd love some MN wisdom to pass on to her.

Please can anyone recommend a therapist in south London who does moxibustion? I'm 35 and a half weeks, DD (first baby) is breech and I'd rather not have a Caesarean.
Will be trying the frozen peas trick and bum in air position too, but want to give everything a go.

Jenny - I was breech until just before 40 wks and a lady on our antenatal thread has just had one turn at 39 wks. Go for the ECV if your midwife/consultant is recommending it - it's uncomfortable but very safe and effective and reduces risk of c-section tremendously.

That's reassuring.
The midwives at St George's don't seem too bothered. They told me on the phone they'd see about a scan if she was still wrong way up at my next check up.
But that's a week on Saturday, and I've scared myself reading all the stuff on the net which says that after 36 weeks they are getting too big to turn. (sigh)

Jenny - here's a summary of the current medical evidence for ECVs:

Oh, and btw - I read the studies that reported complications and all of the babies survived with no lasting problems for mum/baby - the worst that can happen is you end up with a c-section there and then but if you're facing a section anyway there's nothing to lose by trying.
