Does it have to take place then or can it be before, say at 14 weeks? Struggling to get it so I don't need to miss work.

If you haven't had bloods done for your combined testing yet, it needs to be after 15+3 according to my midwife. Not sure if this is a recognised guideline or just the preference in my area though I'm afraid!

Darksideofthemoon88 · 21/05/2014 11:32

I would guess that 14 weeks would be a bit too early - I'd assume they'd want to see you more at 15-17, but ask your midwife.

Snook99 · 21/05/2014 18:03

I had mine this week she told me that if it fell in the holiday then come week before so I was only 15+2 still hear heart beat and got everything done. Think the app is more about checking the bloods from booking app x

Acorncat · 21/05/2014 20:26

I had mine at 17+3. It was just a quick bp and pee check, and listen to heartbeat so didn't matter it was late if that's an option.

angeltreats · 29/06/2014 20:55

I was on holiday in week 16 and was told to come after rather than before, so I had it at 17+2. I think they struggle to hear the heartbeat any earlier than week 16.

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 29/06/2014 20:57

Yes, I think they would rather it was a bit late, not early.

I presume you know work need to let you have paid time off if needs be and not missing work is a personal preference?

Christelle2207 · 29/06/2014 20:58

Perhaps you don't want work to know but they legally have to give you time off to go.

PassTheAnswers · 29/06/2014 21:02

Mine this time will be closer to 18 weeks for various reasons and she didn't seen to think it a problem although preferred later rather than earlier (closer to 18 rather than closer to 14 if that makes sense).

Plateofcrumbs · 30/06/2014 09:01

If you need more flexibility ask if you can get it done via your GP. As others have said it's just a quick BP, dipstick and (depending on local practice) foetal heartbeat check so v straightforward. My GP did mine and I honestly don't think I was in the room longer than 2 mins.

My 16 week appointment was a total waste of time. All they did was ask if I'd had my nt scan and if I felt ok! No pee test/blood pressure/bump prod nothing. Not impressed as they were running an hour late and I'd rather have been at work.
