Sleeping in damp clothes to cool down?

Only 33 weeks but the heat at night is driving me insane! Can't open window all the way as bedroom is on the ground floor, have a fan but it doesn't do much.

So last night I was emptying the washing machine before bed and putting it on the airer to dry overnight, and it occurred to me how cooling it would be to wear something damp to bed, so I put on a cold damp vest top. Slept great!

Is this ok though?! Is there any concerns about having something damp/wet on bump while I sleep? Bump didn't seem to mind but wanted to check!

You will both be fine!
I keep a plant spray bottle filled with water by the side of the bed, and mist clothes/bedding as required.

I'd be a bit worried about making the mattress damp as your squashing it down?

I feel a little qualified to comment on this being australian Grin. On v hot nights I get a wet hand towel and put it on my feet, or even over me if really hot, just not squashing it into the mattress. I hope that makes sense!

You're, dammit!

It might be better to put just damp towels on your forehead or round ankles/wrists so you don't make the bed too wet and those are the body points which help cool the rest of the body.

Not worried about spoiling the bed/mattress at all, it is v old and we are getting a new one when baby is here anyway!

I was more concerned that as baby couldn't regulate their own temperature or something (like how I shouldn't have hot baths or a sauna or a hot tub) maybe equally I shouldn't have something damp and wet there, but if that doesn't seem to be a problem then I will happily wear wet clothes or use wet towels! Thanks!

Just thinking, if you plan on breastfeeding/co sleeping, you may want to keep the old mattress for a bit. Sounds yucky, but I used to leak breast milk over the bed ALL the time!
