I'm 35 weeks, feeling enormous, uncomfortable, and a bit fed up but I read this today which reminded me to be grateful for what I have (and it's been a long road to get here so I really am grateful). Just thought I would share it.....

You wait so long, all the worry, appointments and symptoms.

Finally, your gorgeous little person/people will burst into the world. Every symptom of pregnancy that has been a chore and driven you crazy will disappear.

No more headaches, no more backache/SPD , no more "morning" sickness, your feet will return to their normal size. And guess what?

Even as you watch that tiny beautiful baby sleeping soundly in their moses basket, you'll find your hand wandering to your belly – because you miss being pregnant.

Make the most of this previous time as you will look back and wonder where the time went.

Won't miss being pregnant at all! 32 weeks so far of heartburn, constant vomiting, severe anaemia and numerous gallstones episodes mean I'm counting the days until baby is out!.

GingerRodgers · 20/05/2014 14:08

I'm afraid the only bit I miss is feeling baby move (and even that gets painful at later stages).
I know what you mean but being pregnant makes me so ill I really can't enjoy it.

SkipandTink · 20/05/2014 14:12

I'm due this friday, and trying to appreciate whats left of the pregnancy as it will def be the last, but puffy feet and aching hips and backache and waking up to go to the loo and not being able to pick things up etc will not be missed! I will miss feeling the baby and that lovely middle stage between morning sickness and getting huge. Will never go through this again, so can see the point of your post. I'm trying to stay calm and patient and just wait for him or her to arrive :)

Lorgy and Ginger I thought that too first time round (this is my second baby) and I've had a hellish time this pregnancy but I really will miss being pregnant - mad I know!!

You are definitely mad lol! After my first I was just overjoyed at being able to keep food down and lie in bed on my tummy it didn't occur to me to miss being pregnant.

hartmel · 20/05/2014 15:18

Lorgy- are they going to do something regarding your gallstone episodes after baby is born? I had it with my first that I had to leave around 18 weeks on sick leave.. Got induced as the closer I got to due date the worse the episodes got. My DS was 3 month old and I had to get an emergency surgery to get it removed.

Moonshine1 · 20/05/2014 15:26

I was really ill throughout my first pregnancy but I did find I missed it once I'd had my DD. It was the bump, the kicks and all of the excitement and anticipation mainly. Definitely not the heartburn, sickness, SPD etc. I'm currently 31 weeks with no.2 and can't wait to meet my baby but I'm aware that this could be my last pregnancy so I'll be sad when it's over too, if that makes sense?

StrawberryGashes · 20/05/2014 15:30

I'm on my third pregnancy and I never missed being pregnant after my last 2 DC so I'm pretty certain I won't miss it this time. I miss being able to walk upstairs without stopping to catch my breath.

GingerRodgers · 20/05/2014 19:30

I didn't miss being pregnant at all once dd was born and this time it's been even worse! So I'm guessing I'll feel the same this time.
I honestly can see where you're coming from as I know I'll never have that blissful first week after Bfp where I still feel ok and I'm all excited! Afraid after that it all goes tits up and I feel very ungrateful but I can't enjoy being pregnant at all.

squizita · 20/05/2014 19:37

I inject my leg daily and exist in constant fear/anxiety. Its horrible.

Nunyabiz · 20/05/2014 19:45

Bahaha! Oh sorry but I can't say I'll miss it. This is not my first pregnancy.
I do not enjoy it nor do I miss it one bit when it's finally over! It's hell. Pure hell.

Nunyabiz · 20/05/2014 19:51

Oh ok well I suppose when I was about 24 weeks and I had a nice neat little bump I thought...hey! This beats having stretched saggy skin/pouch. But that was short lived (and outweighed by the torturous relentless vomiting)

Kels13 · 20/05/2014 20:16

This is lovely. I'm half way through my first pregnancy and have wished for my due date to come so many times as have been so sick. Finally feeling a bit better and now can appreciate this special time more. Thank you for sharing!

Lorgy · 20/05/2014 20:39

Hartmel-the plan is to go for surgery once baby arrives and I have had time to recover but may need induction if baby starts to get distressed during an attack. Sounds like you had a horrific time with it. I'm hoping painkillers will be enough to get me through until it can be removed.

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 20/05/2014 21:28

Ha ha, nope. Don't miss being pregnant. Have just had no. 3 and feel quite relieved that I will never have to share my body again, though I do understand missing the endless possibility and excitement of waiting to meet your new baby.

And my feet never went back to normal after no. 1, so clearly got cheated there. Mine was ligament spread rather than swelling though.

Sorry some of you have had or are having a horrible time. Like I said before, my pregnancy has been far from easy but we lost a twin early on and came close to losing them both so I guess I'm just grateful to have got this far, despite the pain, anxiety and all the rest of it.
For those of you who are currently pregnant, good luck and enjoy your babies
