Check with your gp which ones you want to use. I was given the green light for nasal sprays and normal antihistamines. My consultant said the dosages are so low in them anyway it doesn't make a difference. Just ask your doctor to be on the safe side :)

I used an infra red thing from Lloyds chemist, it's two probes you stuff up your nose. I looked like rudolph using it and have no idea how it works but it's safe for use in pregnancy and does work so I didn't question it.

I suffer really badly too so have been worried about it hitting! Prevalin nasal spray is safe to use, you can get it from boots. You can also get medication free balms to put on your nose.

Speak to your pharmacist. I've been awful and it's all been my nose can't stop sneezing ! They have me a nasal spray and balm safe for use in pregnancy feel much better!

I've been told by the doctor and midwife that eyedrops and nasal sprays are fine (because they act locally). Cetirizine is also OK, but avoid it in the first trimester if you're being cautious.

Loratidine is ok in pregnancy

Ludways · 19/05/2014 22:53

I used a nasal spray and on really bad days I had half a loratidine tablet twice a day, sort of spread out the dosage over the day. Worked well for me.

My aunt is a nurse and she suggested to my pregnant sil to have one teaspoon of honey a day. But it has to be honey made within 5 miles of your home! No idea if this actually works though!

My GP, midwife and hospital pharmacist reccommened loratadine throughout the pregnancy, and chlorophenamine maleate (piriton) until the third trimester. I have a sever dust mite allergy and need to take antihistimines every day.
